Viola's mouth became a desert. If she could, she'd let the words she wanted to say flow from her mouth and blurt out a big, fat 'YES!' but something was restraining her.

"I--" The small girl started, "I'm sorry." She paused briefly as she watched Garrett's expression drop, "But no."

"BUT YOU HAVE TO BE TOGETHER! IT'S DESTINY!" Mikey proclaimed, bouncing into the scene.

"I-I can't." Viola said, taking a quick step back, "I can't go on a date with you." Her heart was racing, it beating a mile a minute.

"The taller blonde (not nearly as tall as Mikey) nodded slightly, "Yea. . . I get it." He stepped back as well.

After that, the blonde left the cafeteria. Guilt and regret washed over Viol like a massive wave. Why couldn't she just say what she wanted to say? What was holding her back from saying it and why was it holding her back? She wanted to know, but answers to those questions wouldn't be given to hear easily.

Mikey's eyes were wide. He didn't know what to say. The tall brunette was frozen in place, his mouth dry. His lanky body walked over to her, "Why did you say no?" He questioned, blinking in disbelief. She was just said no to Garrett and that came as a shocker to him.

"You guys are soul mates! Why in the name of the snickerdoodle gods did you say no!?" He continued, not giving Viola a chance to speak.

Viola was frozen in place. Mikey's words were a blur to her, reality was slipping through her fingertips and she found herself zoning out.

"Viola. . ." Mikey started after a moment, waving his hand in front of her face, "Vi-Vi. BFFL, are you there?" He asked, staring into her dark eyes with his own.

The Ukrainian shook her head, everything clearing for her. "What?" She questioned, looking up at Mikey. He was crouching over, but he was still tall. Mikey was 6 foot and Viola was 5 foot. Not the most convenient height difference.

"Why in the name of the SNICKERDOODLE PASTRY GODS DID YOU SAY NO TO GERR? YOUR SOULMATE!!!" Mikey had raised his voice after saying the word 'snickerdoodle'.

Viola didn't know. She didn't have an answer for herself, nonetheless Mikey. "I-I don't know. . ." She responded, saliva trailing down her throat as she gulped.

"WELL, GO AFTER HIM AND TELL HIM THAT YOU LOVE HIM!" Mikey screeched, "YOU TELL ME ALL THE TIME ABOUT HOW YOU THINK HE'S A DREAM BOAT AND HOW YOU WANT TO DATE HIM. NOW'S YOUR CHANCE. GO, GO, GO!" He urged loudly.

"Quiet down!" Viola said, "The school doesn't need to kno--" She got interrupted, "JUST GO!" Mikey proclaimed, pushing her along.

Viola unwillingly trudged along, each step getting heavier and heavier for her. Her breaths got lower and more weighed down the farther she went.

Eventually, she caught sight of the blonde she was forced to go see. He was speaking with someone, him dramatically pressing his back against a locker. A smile was on his face.

Though it was bright like usual, Viola could tell it was fake. She had known him long enough to tell when he was faking it or not.

Garrett's laugh made it into her ears, it being as sweet as sugar (a/n: unintentional book reference who?). She was like a bee and he was her honey. There was just something about him that drew her in and made her want to be with him as much as she possibly could be.

Of course, she wasn't obsessed with him or anything, but whenever they had a chance to get together and go on one of their random escapades, she didn't miss it for the world.

Finally, she approached Garrett. His and Jesse's (his friend) laughter died down after a moment. Garrett and Viola made eye contact, a lump forming in his throat.

Viola felt her palms get clammy. Her system was rushing, a mix of emotions running through her. A pit formed at the bottom of her stomach all the sudden.

"Can we talk alone for a second please?" Viola asked, looking over at Jesse. He nodded, pursing his lips before walking off.

Jesse would have retorted and said something just to push Garrett's buttons, but he restrained and walked off. Probably to his girlfriend or something, but that's unimportant to the story.

"What do you need?" Garrett questioned, him and Viola making eye contact. His hands were stuffed in his pockets, him playing with the link that rolled around at the bottom of them.

"I want to apologize." Viola started, inhaling and exhaling briefly. "You don't need to apologize about anything." Garrett assured. "You didn't do anything wrong." He finished.

"But. . . I do. I need to apologize. . ." She gulped before continuing, "I rejected you falsely and I'm sorry."

Garrett blinked, "What do you mean?" He asked, not catching on immediately. The words 'I rejected you falsely' for some reason didn't exactly comprehend for him.

"I said no, when I should've really said yes. . . Yes, Garrett. I will go on a date with you." The blonde's eyes were as wide as saucers.
