Car's POV

I look around the room. Empty. A treehouse can seem a lot bigger when it's only you. Even know it stays the same size. The ladder creaks, signaling me that somebody is coming up. "Hey." A familiar voice says. I turn around and see Marsh standing there, "Uhh... Hey!" I greet. Marshal smiles then sits down by me, "What're you doing up here all alone?" Marsh asks. "Thinking." I state simply, like its nothing. Marshal grins, "About what?" Marshal questions giddily. "Nothing." I reply.

"You can't just think about nothing."

"Well I am."

"Then you have a dark soul."

"I know."

"I hate you."

"You can't hate an angel with a tilted halo."

"Which isn't you."

"Of course it is!"

"Is not."

"Is too!"

"Is not."

"Is too!"

"Is not."

"Is too!"

"Is. Not."

"IS TOTALLY TOO!"

"You're not an angel."

"Then why do I have a halo?"

"You don't."

"You're mean, you know that, right?"

"Yep!"

"So why're you here?" I look at the other girl. "Just checking in. Seriously, what're you thinking about?" She asks. "Ross..." I reply dreamily. "Ross and Car sittin' in--" Marsh starts to sing, but I cover her mouth, "Not. Another. Word." I growl. "Meep!" Marsh squeaks. I remove my hand slowly, placing it in my lap. "Tell. No one... Please!" I plead. "Trust me, I won't!" Marsh swears. I let out a breath of relief.

Ross' POV

"Ross...." Car replies. I feel my face heat up. Me? "Ross and Car, sittin' in--" Marsh stops talking. I hear mumbling, but can't exactly make up the words. I swear I didn't mean to ease drop, I was just walking past when I hear them. I crawl up the ladder, pretending that I didn't hear anything. "Mar--" Car stops. I look in. Both the girls turn to me, "Hey." I greet. Car waves as Marshal smiles. I crawl onto the wood of the treehouse' floor and sit down by them. "So what's up with you guys?" I ask. Marshal shrugs, "Not much." She says. Car looks at Marsh, then at me. She shrugs as well, "Like she said... Nothing much." Car replies. The three of us continue to talk until nightfall.

•Nightfall•

"Well... I better get going. Max is going to be mad if I don't get back before one." Marsh gets up. "Bye!" Car exclaims. I give her a small wave as a goodbye. Marsh smiles at both of us, then climbs down the ladder. "Bye!" She yells as she runs off into the woods. It's only Car and I now. "So..." Car shuffles around uncomfortably. "So..." I repeat. An awkward silence falls upon us until I speak up, "So do you have any... Plans?" I ask. Car props her head up and looks at me, "Why?" She questions. I shrug, "Just wondering." I reply. Car sighs, "No." She says. I grab her hand softly, "Then follow me." I smirk. I bolt down the ladder with Car following shortly behind. I grab her hand again then bolt thru the woods at a fast pace. Car giggles, "Slow down!" She exclaims. "Not just yet...!" I reply. I continue to drag her thru the woods until we eventually reach a sparkling pond. The moon reflects off the water, sending a small silver shimmer onto the clear pond. Fireflies illuminate the area, popping around from place to place in a matter of seconds. The wild flowers poke out of the ground, adding an extra bit of color to the forest green grass. "It's beautiful..." Car mutters. I take this chance, "Not as beautiful as you." (A/N: I'm sorry I had to😂) I say. Car looks at me and punches me softly in the arm, "Shut up, you idiot." She giggles. "Awh, you know you love me!" I tease. "That... I do." She murmurs, barely loud enough for me to hear. My smile drops as my eyes widen. Nervous beads of sweat roll down my face. What did she just say? Did she say that she... Loved me?
