Sonadow - King and his slave

Part 17

Everything was black. There was a distant voice calling for Shadow. It said his name many times and slowly Shadow was starting to wake up from his sleep. He somehow felt like the female voice was familiar to him but his head was still spinning so much that he couldn't tell who was talking to him. He frowned and opened his eyes slowly. Everything was blurry and he could only see an unclear, pink figure in front of him. He needed to blink his eyes many times before he finally was able to focus his eyes on the female figure. With a worried look in her green eyes queen Amy was looking at him and slightly shaking him by holding his shoulders with her dainty hands.

"Shadow, are you alright? Can you hear me?" she asked worriedly. Shadow looked at the pink girl in wonder for a while before he sat up slowly. He held his head a bit and closed his eyes again.

"Where.. where am I..?" he asked, obviously being very confused and still woozy from Scourge's anesthetic.

"You're in a cell in duke Eggman's mansion," Amy said rather quietly as she sat on the cold floor next to Shadow. Shadow opened his eyes right away and quickly moved away from Amy.

"D-duke Eggman?!" the ebony hedgehog shouted out, suddenly getting a few flashbacks from his past. He remembered a man called Eggman very well. He was the one who raised him until he was old enough to be sold away as a slave.. Shadow looked at Amy who looked really surprised by Shadow's reaction but she slowly nodded to him.

"Yes, duke Eggman. I have been here a while already an-" Amy started but Shadow cut her off.

"Y-you have been here a while? Are you.. Are you plotting something with that horrible man?!" Shadow yelled out rather loudly. Metal Sonic, who was still in the hallway guarding them, turned his head slightly towards them now. Shadow moved more away from Amy, having his back now against the bars, not noticing the metallic hedgehog on the hallway.

"N-no I'm not!" Amy yelled out too, looking at Shadow and being even more confused.

"Yes you are! I know you are! You have been trying to get rid off me the whole time I have been in your castle..! I know you hate me! I know! And Sonic knows that too..!" Shadow yelled out. He didn't know where his sudden burst of self-confidence and courage came from but now he felt like he was able to defend himself in front of Amy.

"But I'm not going to leave Sonic..! Just because you're jealous of him doesn't mean I need to suffer..! I deserve him! I deserve being loved..! You hear me?!" Shadow shivered a little, pressing himself more against those bars and now feeling how all his self-confidence and courage were slowly fading away. He couldn't believe he had just yelled at the queen like that. He was now more than afraid to hear how Amy would react to his words. He looked at Amy carefully, only now seeing how miserable she looked with sad expression on her face and lowered ears. Shadow slowly lowered his ears also.

"I-i'm sorry, m-my queen.. I-i didn't mean that.." he whined quietly. Amy shook her head slightly and moved closer to Shadow. She sat next to him, leaning her back against the bars also. She smiled very tiny bit to the ebony hedgehog.

"I will tell you something, Shadow. So listen carefully." Shadow looked down and only nodded at that. Amy sighed and closed her eyes.

"It is true that I was and I still am jealous about my king. You see, he's my hero and I look up to him and I also love him. We were really young when I heard I was supposed to get married with Sonic. I was really excited and happy because I really liked him and I was looking forward to get married with him. But I was also a little unhappy because I never got response to my feelings. I always knew that he didn't really love me but I wanted to pretend that we were madly in love and he was just too shy to show his feelings.."
