Sonadow - King and his slave

Part 24

Shadow's eyes widened as he, in shock, looked how deep red blood was falling down from the side of his father's body. Metal Sonic pulled his sword out of Mephiles' broadside and Mephiles pressed his hand quickly and hard against the bleeding spot. Shadow felt how his eyes became watery. Just a moment ago this hedgehog was just a king from another kingdom and he barely knew him but now this same hedgehog was his father, his only relative he barely knew, and seeing him get hurt like that made Shadow feel all kinda emotions.

"F..father.." A quiet whisper escaped from Shadow's mouth as he looked how the older king fell down on his knees and groaned in pain as his side kept bleeding pretty badly.

"Finish him Metal Sonic..!" Eggman shouted with a smirk on his lips. The mad genius got up from the floor and grabbed Shadow's wrist and squeezed it hard. Shadow whimpered slightly and tried to struggle off but Eggman's grip was just getting tighter.

"Please, don't kill him! Please..!" Shadow yelled out to Metal Sonic. Metal ignored the ebony ones desperate screams and walked closer to Mephiles who was shivering in pain. The old king looked how the metallic hedgehog lifted his sword up and was getting ready to slice him to death. Mephiles looked towards Shadow with tiny smile on his lips.

"Don't worry, sonny.. It's alright.. I'm old already and maybe it is my time to leave this world now.." Mephiles said quietly but still loud enough for Shadow to hear. Shadow looked at Mephiles, even more shocked look on his face now, and he felt how tears started to fall down his cheeks.

"N-no.. No, you can't die now..! Just when I.. I mean.. just when we found each others again...!" Shadow whimpered. Mephiles smiled weakly to his son and coughed slightly.

"Seeing you again and alive gives me so much happiness that I don't mind dying now, Shadow.. I have been looking for you for so long and I thought I would never see my little boy again.. But there you are.. M-my little prince.." Mephiles said and moved a little before he collapsed on the floor. All the bleeding was making him feel really dizzy and weak. Shadow looked at the old king, his father, with tearful eyes.

"N-no.. No no no..! Please don't say that..!" Shadow yelled out. Eggman looked at the young prince and the old king and then he smirked.

"Shadow, I won't kill your father. But if I spare his life, you have to come with me and be a part of my servants," Eggman said. Scourge smirked at Sonic and chuckled.

"Oh, I would like that~" the green hedgehog said, purposely playing around with Sonic and his mind. Sonic growled at Scourge furiously and his fighting became more aggressive. He would rather die than let Scourge touch Shadow ever again.

"Shadow, don't do it! I can still save you both..!" Sonic yelled out in the middle of his sword fight with the green hedgehog. Shadow looked at Sonic and then Mephiles. Then he slowly turned to look at Sonic.

"I'm so sorry.." he said quietly. Sonic looked at Shadow with sad look on his face. As much as he really was happy to see that Shadow had accepted Mephiles as his father and was now going to save him, he also was very upset about it. Who knows what kind of horrible plans, perhaps involving Shadow again, Eggman had already started to plot. Sonic just couldn't lose Shadow again. It would already be the third time and Sonic wasn't going to let it happen.

Despite of that Eggman was dragging Shadow towards a door at the back of the room. It wasn't the same door Mephiles and Sonic had used to get here thought. But once Eggman got closer to the door something happened. For everyone's surprise the door suddenly flew wide open and a pack of knights rushed into the room with Knuckles and Blaze at the head. At the same time two other doors on the other side of the room flew open too and more knights rushed into the room. Eggman looked really surprised and the color slowly left his face as he slowly realized that there was no way he was getting out of this. He had lost and his plans had been ruined.
