Sonadow - King and his slave

Part 19

Shadow was leaning against a wall of their cell and looking at the empty hallway. Metal Sonic had left but Shadow was pretty sure he wouldn't be gone for too long. He sighed softly and looked to his side slightly. Queen Amy had fallen asleep and she was now resting her head on his shoulder, sleeping and breathing peacefully. Shadow looked at her, not really daring to move and wake up the sleeping queen. She had been awake whole night apparently so no wonder she was tired now. Shadow felt a bit weird for having her so close to himself. Just a moment ago he had disliked and even feared queen Amy and now he could almost say that she was his friend. Or at least everything was alright between them. But maybe it was just because they were trapped here together.. Shadow flicked his ears slightly when he heard footsteps from the hallway. Soon he saw how Metal Sonic walked in front of their cell with a tray in his arms. He opened the door with a key and placed a tray down. After doing this he closed the door right away and locked it again. This all happened so fast that it would have been impossible to even try to escape from a cell during that time. Shadow looked at a tray with two plates having some sorta food on them, two glasses of water and cutlery. He looked at Metal Sonic and then the food again. He heard how his stomach growled slightly and even thought his mind was trying to tell him not to eat anything Eggman was giving to them he just couldn't resist. The feeling of hunger was just growing bigger and his stomach was begging for food. Shadow turned to look at Amy again and he carefully nudged her.

"Queen Amy, wake up," he said and leaned slightly closer to the pink ears when the queen didn't wake up right away.

"Queen Amy, wake up please. We just got food," Shadow said a bit louder in queen's ear. Amy frowned slightly and moved her head a bit in her sleep.

"Mmh.." Shadow rolled his eyes slightly and nudged her again.

"Queen Amy, wake up!" he said really loudly now. The pink hedgehog startled slightly and opened her eyes now. She blinked them quickly and then turned her head a bit and looked at the black hedgehog in wonder. When she noticed where she was resting her head she leaned back right away and slightly moved away from Shadow.

"Oh, I fell asleep?" she said, sounding rather embarrased now. She run her fingers along her hair, making sure it wasn't too messy even thought it didn't really matter since Shadow was only one looking at her at the moment but maybe because she was a queen afterall it was important to her to look groomed in every situation.

"Yes you did, queen Amy," Shadow said and got up from the floor slowly. He walked towards a tray and lifted it up, then he looked at all the food. It looked really good plus the smell of fresh food was delicious and since he really was hungry and only getting more and more hungry he wasn't going to waste food. Shadow walked back to Amy and sat down on the floor next to her.

"I tried to wake you up because Metal Sonic just brought us food.." he said. Amy looked at a tray slightly and then smiled happily.

"Oh wonderful, I'm really hungry! Let's eat!" she said cheerfully. Shadow looked at her a bit with confused and suspicious look on his face.

"Aren't you afraid? I mean.. I find it really weird that Eggman suddenly wants to offer food to us.." he said. Amy looked at Shadow and her smile slowly disappeared and was replaced by thoughtful look.

"Hmm, well.. I think he's just being polite. He has some manners too I guess, he's a duke afterall.. But I think the main reason why he offers food to us is that he wants to keep us satisfied so we won't try to escape or anything. Plus we're more usefull if we are alive, right?" Amy said and took a glass of water in her hands. She smiled slightly before she took a sip of it.

"We can as well just eat, you know. We don't know if we will get food again anytime soon.." she added and then smiled calmly to Shadow. Shadow nodded a bit. He had to admit that Amy was right.
