I told my parents I was going to be sleeping over and studying at some girl's house for the next few days. I can't believe they bought it.
The guilt is really swallowing me up. I can't forget how much tequila I drank. I can't believe I'm not dead. Actually, scratch all those other things. I can't believe I'm not dead.
When I woke up in the middle of the street, I panicked. The last thing I remember clearly was how proud I was for finding where the tequila was stored. And then, the rest is all hazy.
I think I fell a couple of times... on the road...
Oh, and I fell asleep afterwards! In my dream, I saw the most wonderful boy. However, his face is still so blurry in my mind. Darn, and he was a cool guy, too. Anyway, I was kind of sort of at school.
Taking that science test that was rescheduled for today. Thank god I studied in the library. I stayed at that college girl's house. The one who held the party. I guess it's okay. Thank god it's a half day. We leave at 11:30, which is right... about... now!
I hand in my test and soon enough, I leave school. I think I have to go back home today.
"Hey, Luna?" I look up, startled. That voice was unfamiliar. Then, I felt it's breath on my neck. I took a huge step forward and turned to face this unknown person.
He had blonde curly hair with a wavy fringe. His brown eyes stared at intently into mine, as if he were plucking every secret out of my soul. And he was handsome.
"Who are you?" I asked skeptically. I was a girl, but I knew strangers when I saw one.
To my surprise, he chuckled. "I knew you didn't remember me." I felt guilty. Was he my childhood friend that moved away and never came back? Did I even have one of those?
"Who are you?" I repeated again, taking one step back. He laughed.
"I'm Cody. Who are you?" he questioned, trying to hold back a smirk. He already knew my name. Why was he asking again?
"You know my name," I glared. "But how?"
"To be honest," he said, "this is my second time introducing myself."
"What are you talking about?" I was genuinely curious. Where did I meet this boy before? I'm pretty sure I would remember a face as pretty as his.
"Gee, you weren't kidding about being seriously drunk that night."
I froze. How did he know? Shoot, was he going to arrest me? What should I do? Play dumb. Yes, just play it cool.
"I don't quite recall meeting you or getting drunk."
"It's okay. I'm not here to arrest you. I was with you for about two hours helping you complete your bucket list. Ring a bell?" He asked. Then he added on, murmuring, "Though I really should have called an ambulance."
My ears perked up. Ambulance?
"Yeah, an ambulance," Cody repeated. Seriously, was this boy reading minds? I chose to look up, but once I did, I was under his intimidating gaze again. "Ring any bells yet?"
I stared at him harder, as if willing my memories to come out.
'Luna! Luna, Luna, Luna, are you okay?!' a voice cried out. 'Why would you do that? Why, why, why did you have to go and do something so stupid?!'
I blinked. What was that? Nope. I can't remember. He still doesn't reach any depth of my memory.
"You don't ring any bells."
"Ouch," he laughed. "Well, maybe next time, then." He began to turn around, and walk away. "Bye!" he called out.
Strange, strange boy.
