Chapter 1

.It has been ten years or so since I last seen or heard from Luke. I hear him on the radio all the time. It makes me happy that he got to make his dream, as did I. I was a registered nurse in the emergency room on weekends. I was a pediatric nurse during the week. I was making a decent amount of money and was also living my dream. I was currently filling out some patient's paperwork at the front desk in the pediatric's office.

"How are you not tired?" Hannah walked over and placed a folder next to me as she started to fill it out. "I was when I first started working but now that we are closed, next stop. The emergency room." I told her as I closed the folder and handed it to Alyssa, the other pediatric nurse. I grabbed my things before saying goodbye to everyone and walked out of the office. As I turned on my Patriot Jeep, Luke was playing on the radio.

It feels like I woke up one morning
And it all changed without warning
I don't know how our paths crossed
But all I know is I've been lost
Now it's hard to think
That we were ever strangers

I smiled as I sat there for a few minutes listening to him sing. Once the song was over, I buckled up and headed to the emergency room for my other job.

As I pulled into the parking lot, I knew we were gonna be busy. Alot of cars were parked. I sighed. As I hopped out of the car, my phone rung.

"Hello?" I answered, placing my phone to my ear as I walked through the emergency room doors.

"Lilly, I think Gabe broke his arm!"My younger sister Kayla panicked over the phone. Kayla was married and they have a two year old son together. "Calm down, Bring him over to the emergency room. Luckily, I just started my shift. You can tell me what happened when you get him in." I explained to her. "Okay." Kayla said before hanging up. While she was on her way, I was trying to get done with patients so Kayla wouldn't have to wait. I bet it is frightening to have your little one get injured and it is serious.

As soon as I walked out to call the next patient, I saw Kayla and her husband Ethan rush in. Gabe was crying while Kayla carried him in. I rushed over and took Gabe out of her arms. I then took him to the back with Kayla and Ethan right behind me. I got in a room and placed Gabe down. "Auntie." Gabe cried. I rubbed my hand through his brown hair before getting gloves just in case a bone pierced the skin and was bleeding a little.

"Tell me what happened." I said as I examined his arm. "He was out playing with Ethan on the trampoline when Gabe fell off and landed on his arm." Kayla explained. "I tried catching him but it was all too fast." Ethan added. "It's okay." I told them while looking at Gabe who was still crying.

"He will need an x ray done to see how serious it really is broken. I know he will need a cast though." I said as I took my gloves off. "You are taking it like a champ." I told Gabe. He just sniffled as Kayla came to his side.

"Due to medical rules and all, my boss will probably not let me work on this case as you are family so I am getting one of the other best nurses we have, Marissa, to handle you." I explained. "Thanks, Lilly." Kayla hugged me.

I grabbed a lolly pop we have for when kids visit the E.R and handed it to Gabe. "You are a trooper. I come check on you guys after." I smiled before leaving the room.

"Lilly, here you go. 34 white male, he was riding a bike when he crashed. He has a broken Clavicle." One of the nurses I haven't talked to much spoke, handing me a folder. I nodded before walking to where he was. I knocked on the door before walking in.

"Well, you managed to break your clavicle so you will need surgery." I said looking down at the folder. I then proceeded to look up. My jaw dropped.

"L-luke."

"Hey Lilly."

So here is chapter 1!! In this story, i made their ages a little younger. As for what happened in this chapter, you met her sister and her brother in law along with her nephew. And she ran into Luke! I made it where in real like when he really did break his clavicle. Since she is a nurse, it only made sense.
