I got home around one in the morning last night. It was the best night ever though, I gotta admit. I did have to work around four and I slept til noon. I was exhausted from working and going to the concert on the same night. I quickly got a shower and got ready for the day. Luke was having his surgery around three so I better hurry up and visit him before he goes back. Once I got ready for the day, I headed to the hospital. I went up to Karen, the receptionist. "What room is Thomas Bryan in?" I asked her.
"Here is his folder, Lilly. Go check on him. You are gonna be his nurse after surgery and he is in room 203." Karen answered. I thanked her before going on the third floor. I walked to the door and knocked on it before walking in. Luke was in the hospital bed as his mama, LeClaire was sitting in the chair next to him, a little boy about one in her lap and an older boy around four or five maybe was sitting on the end of Luke's bed. Both of the boys looked just like Luke. The older one was a mini me of Luke.
"Hey, Lilly." Luke grinned as I walked in. I smiled. "Lilly? It's good to see you, honey!" LeClaire got up and hugged me. "Seems you are doing well." LeClaire said. "Yes, ma'am." I replied. I then looked at the two boys.
"Those are my sons, Bo, who is the oldest and Tatum or Tate who mama is holding." Luke spoke. Bo, who was sitting on the edge of the bed looked up and smiled. "I didn't know you were married." I said to Luke while checking on his shoulder and such.
"Actually, I'm divorced. Mama watches the boys when I am on tour. They go to their mom's on the weekends." Luke explained. "Oh, I'm sorry." I said.
"It's fine, you didn't know." Luke told me while looking at me. Now it was akward. "Anyway, I came in to check on you. I am going to be your nurse after surgery." I quickly changed the subject.
"That's good to know." Luke grinned. LeClaire put down Tate as she went to get something out of her purse and Tatum walked over to me and held his arms out. "You can hold him." Luke said. I nodded before picking up the one year old boy. "He's a cutie." I smiled at Tate. "He looks just like his mama as this kiddo looks just like me." Luke said, pointing to Bo. "Dada." Tate softly said, pointing to Luke.
I walked over and placed Tate in his lap since he couldn't hold him with both arms. As we were talking, Dr. Steven walked in. "Good afternoon Luke. We are about to prep you for surgery." Dr. Steven introduced. "Alright, boys. Say bye to your daddy." LeClaire said as she put her purse over her shoulder. Bo hugged Luke as Tate did the same even though I don't think he understands. Luke kissed both of them on the forehead before LeClaire picked up Tate and grabbed Bo's hand.
"I see you after." I told Luke. "Alright." Luke said. I squeezed Luke's hand before walking out. "Do you wanna come to the cafeteria Lilly? We need to catch up?" LeClaire asked. I checked my phone.
"Sure, I have an hour before I start my shift." I smiled.
-------
"It's been ten years. I never thought I would run into him like the way I did. Maybe it's fate, I dunno." I shrugged, taking a sip of my coffee. LeClaire smiled before looking at Bo and Tate.
"I don't wanna say this but Luke and Caroline, they were happy until a year or so ago. Caroline got tired of him being away and him missing the kids mile stones and such. I just think he needs a good girl in his like that loves him and supports him in everything he does. And he needs someone to be a good mother figure to the boys." LeClaire explained.
I nodded in understanding.
"You are a great girl. I'm surprised you two didn't date in college. Everyone thought you loved each other." Whenever LeClaire said that, my heart skipped a beat. I just smiled a little. I looked at my phone and it just turned four. "Well, my shift is starting. Nice to catch up." I told LeClaire. "Nice to see you again, dear." LeClaire smiled.
"Nice to see you Bo and Tate." I waved goodbye to the kiddos before heading off to work in the emergency room.
----
"Mr. Bryan is out of surgery if you wanna see him." Dr. Steven smirked at me, placing Luke's folder in a secure place. I hate his smug look. "Okay." Was all I told him before finishing up a patient's prescription. I moved a strand of my blonde hair behind my ear before going up to his room. He was in post op so he was still probably groggy. I knocked on the door before walking in. LeClaire was sitting beside him as both of his boys were fast asleep on the little couch in the corner. I walked over and stood next to Luke.
"How are you feeling?" I asked Luke. He gave a small smile. "Tired. Sore but medicine will help with that." Luke answered. I nodded.
"Just don't do too much on stage. Knowing you are the same boy from college, you will be on that stage tonight." I said with a laugh. "Isn't that the truth!" LeClaire agreed. I smiled as Luke rolled his eyes.
"My shift is ending soon but I just wanted to check on you and see how you were feeling." I told him. Luke grabbed my hand and rubbed his thumb across it.
"Thank you. I appreciate it." Luke responded. I smiled before leaning over and kissed his forehead.
"I don't know when we will see each other again but I'm so glad I got to see you."
Here is chapter 4!! I hope you all enjoyed! Do you think this is the last Luke and Lilly will see each other or will something happen? Let me know down in the comments!
