Hekapoo's POV

"What are we going to do? The citizens of Mewni already hate us because of your daughter's Princess Song, we can't make them fight with us," I said.

"Well, not voluntarily, at least..."

"We are not doing that, Omnitraxus! This is a matter of magic, not force," said Moon.

Rhombulus was sobbing in the corner, "Lekmet is dead, man... I can't deal with this..."

"Come on, dude, cheer up," I said. "He saved Moon. And Moon saved us. Without Lekmet all of your magic would be drained out of you."

"I know..." Rhombulus said, not knowing how to counter-argument.

"So this is it, then? Just us four, this is the army that will supposedly defeat Toffee?"

"What about your daughter, Star? Baby told me she was a very powerful Princess," Omnitraxus said.

"I won't put my daughter in danger under any circumstances. She may be powerful, but she's unstable as well. We wouldn't be able to rely on her, and she's just a teenager."

"I feel like we can use all the help we can get," I said.

"Yeah, don't you feel like you're being a little overprotective here?"

"My answer is no!" Moon yelled a little bit too loud.

"Okay, fine, chill out," I said. "And what happened to Glossaryck? Where is he?"

"I don't know. The book was empty, and Toffee had absorbed Ludo, and-- Oh, my," Moon said. "Toffee absorbed all the spellbook."

"What do you mean, Toffee absorbed the spellbook?"

"He made it part of himself, like Ludo. All of the information is now in him. And as Glossaryck is the living embodiment of the Magic Instruction Book, Toffee absorbed him as well."

"Poor Glossaryck..." Rhombulus said.

"Nah, I wouldn't say that. I bet he had some kind of plan. We're talkin' about Glossaryck here, remember? He can see into the future and stuff. I wouldn't worry about him too much, Rhombie," I said.

"I just hope he's okay..."

Marco's POV

"Here, some blankets. I found them in one of the closets," Tom said, being suspiciously nice, probably just in case Star could hear him in her sleep. I thought she would be cute when she'd be sleeping, but no. In fact, she looked clumsy, but in a funny way. It perfectly showed her bold personality. The best part was, she looked peaceful. She looked happy. I hope she was having a nice dream.

"Quite the twist turn for a summer," Jackie said and smiled.

"Yeah," I said. I held my breath and then continued, "You know you don't have to be here, right, Jackie?"

"What do you mean?"

"You're not obliged to put your life at risk for a place and a magical princess you didn't even know existed a year ago."

"We all know that, yet we're all here."

"Why?"

"Maybe it's just because we're looking for a bit of adventure in an otherwise super boring summer. Or MAYBE we actually care about that magical princess. You choose." I chuckled lightly. "Seriously, though, Marco. We really care about Star. None of us feel obliged to be here. We all want to help Star, don't we, guys?" Everybody nodded.

I smiled, "Thanks, everyone."

"Now, I think we should go to sleep. Wanna snuggle up?"

"Sure." We lied down on one of the couches and Jackie put her arms around me.

After a while she started talking, "Y'know, you're actually much cuter than that guy from skate camp I had a crush on a while ago."

"How?"

"Well, at least you know that I exist," she chuckled.

"He seriously didn't know you existed? But you're Jackie Lynn Thomas, everybody knows you!"

"I'm not always this cool, you know?" She said. "Remember, in fifth grade when I got that huge pimple on my nose and everybody started making fun of me because of it?" I nodded. "I felt miserable. I felt like no one really liked me. Not like you do. All of the people that supposedly love me only love me when I'm the cool, laid-back Jackie. And that's not what friendship is, right?"

"No, it isn't."

"Marco, I want us to make a vow. In case we ever break up, for any reason, under any circumstances, could we promise to stay friends?"

"Of course, Jackie. I promise," I said. "And you remember what caused everybody to stop making fun of you when you had that pimple?"

"Yeah, I do. You colored your face with Sharpies." Jackie smiled. "I really appreciate how you've always been such a great friend. Even though we didn't talk. I love you for that."

"I love you too, Jackie." That came out of my mouth, although true, without much emotion. I wish I knew why.

"Sweet dreams," she said.

"Good night."
