A warm breeze was flowing gently as the Autumn leaves seemed to shine under the light of the morning sun.
I stood on a hill overlooking the residential district of Vale. I pushed my long black hair aside as I set my eyes on the headstone before me. The family name was inscribed in bold letters - (L/N).
A sad smile crossed my lips as I knelt and reached out to place my hand on the stone. "Hi, Mom." The words were filled with longing. I always got emotional when I came to visit my mother's grave. "I'm sorry it took me so long to come see you again. I hope you'll forgive me for that, but I brought someone to meet you."
A soft hand appeared on my shoulder. The golden blonde beauty knelt beside me, meeting my eyes with a bright smile. I used my free hand to guide hers, placing it on the headstone.
"Mom," I said. "This is Yang Xiao Long. We've been dating since I started at Beacon."
"It's nice to meet you, Mrs. (L/n)," Yang said sweetly. "(F/n)'s told me a ton of great things about you."
"Yang is one of Beacon's strongest fighters," I explained. "She's really incredible. To be honest, she reminds me a lot of you."
Yang seemed touched by the words. Her attention returned to my mother's grave. "He's exaggerating a little, but I just want to say thank you for raising such an amazing man. He really means the world to me."
A tear fell from my eye. Hearing her talk about me like that was pretty heartwarming.
She continued. "From woman to woman, I promise to take good care of him."
I would swear I sensed my mother's approval in the air.
I spoke to Yang with a bright smile on my face. "I think she likes you."
She placed a tender kiss on my lips then hugged me tight. "Good. I like her too."

I sat in the audience with the rest of team VYTL and team JNPR as we watched team RWBY's first match. We were cheering excitedly, even Jameson was getting into it.
There was a brief moment when I thought the girls were in trouble, but that didn't last long since Blake launched a surprise attack to take down the girl she was fighting.
I heard Jaune screaming Weiss's name as she trapped two of their opponents in a giant ball of ice. The ice ball started rolling but the final member of the team appeared and smashed the ice into tiny pieces with a martial arts palm thrust. I was totally impressed. That chick had some skills. I wouldn't mind taking her on myself.
The glory of the moment passed quickly as team RWBY worked together to send my beautiful Yang flying toward their opponents. She took them all down with one hit.
"TEAM RWBY WINS THE MATCH!!" Oobleck's came loud over the speakers.
Our group yelled and cheered as we celebrated the victory.
"Now, ladies and gentlemen!" Port's voice echoed. "Help us welcome to the arena, the team most favored to win the tournament! The Vytal Festival's first-ever home team! TEAM VYTL!"
The crowd exploded as we entered the arena. Yang and I shared a quick kiss as we exchanged places. Obnoxious whistles and teasing cheers could be heard from the crowd, but neither of us cared.
"Good luck!" she said as she winked and left for the stands.
My team reached center stage as Oobleck announced our opponents. "Team VYTL's DJ Willis should be happy to see some familiar faces!" He exclaimed. "Because their first opponents will be none other than Mr. Willis's former team, Team DRYV from Shade Academy!"
