Cat woke up in the middle of the night, sweating. She wiped her forehead and decided to go into the kitchen and get some ice out of the freezer. She took out two bags of ice and stumbled into the bedroom to rest for a moment, then walked into the bathroom to place them into the tub.

Cat took off her pajamas and sighed when she opened the bags of ice, filling the tub. After the whole tub was filled, she stuck her toes inside hesitantly, but then she stepped in with her whole leg gorged in ice. She flinched from the sudden chill and decided to put the rest of herself in the ice bath.

She started to shiver and tried to move, but she couldn't. "sam.....saaam?" Cat cried out desperately for Sam to help her, but she couldn't speak loud enough. "Sam please help me, I can't move," Cat called out softly, her voice pleading and fearful.

An hour later, Cat woke up in her bed and saw Sam at the end of it, sound asleep and holding onto Cat's legs. She smiled weakly and looked back up to the ceiling, then slid her feet from Sam's arms.

Sam didn't budge, so Cat crawled over to her and moved her hair, then planted a small kiss on her ear. "Thank you." Cat sat back on the bed and watched Sam's reaction turn from groggy to surprised.

"Uh, sure; no problem, kid." Sam sat up and stared at Cat, her face red. Cat giggled and covered her mouth, and Sam smiled then looked away from her. "You're killing me. You always find some way to get yourself into trouble." Sam said and shook her head slowly.

"Yeah, but I know that you'll always save me when I need you," Cat said and smiled warmly. Sam looked up and saw that Cat was inching closer to her. Sam scooted back a little, but stopped when Cat wrapped her small arms around her neck.

"C-Cat...?" Sam was sitting still while Cat hugged her tighter. Neither of them spoke, they sat in complete silence. Cat was comfortable with this silence; Sam tried occasionally to speak and calm her nerves, but Cat only went from giving one word answers to not responding at all.

Sam gave up on speaking to Cat, knowing she would be stubborn with her silent treatment. "I love you." Sam froze when she heard Cat finally speak. Cat let go of Sam's neck and looked up for a reaction. Sam blushed and averted her eyes from Cat.

"I love you too." Sam closed her eyes and took a deep breath when she said it. She had said she loved Cat plenty of times, though it still felt foreign to say. She was slowly getting used to expressing how she felt about the small red haired girl.

Cat smiled and looked away, her finger tracing the charm of her necklace. "You know, the necklace you got for me; I wear it all the time. And when I miss you, or even think about you in the slightest, I can't help but read the back of the charm." Sam's eyes widened slightly at what Cat told her.

"Remember that one yayday last year when you got me that brown giraffe?" Sam asked, still staring blankly at the floor. Cat smiled, "Yeah, I knew your favourite colour was brown because its the same colour of gravy." Sam nodded and looked at Cat's hands, taking one in her's.

"I forgot to thank you for your gift. So um, thanks." Sam stared at Cat's hand while she stroked the back of it with her thumb. "You're welcome Sam," Cat said and smiled. "I uh....never mind." Sam started to say something but instantly stopped herself. "No, no Sam; tell me," Cat pleaded.

Sam closed her eyes and sighed, then said, "Whenever you're gone, I like to keep the giraffe next to me...because I...miss you." Cat blushed and smiled. "Aw, Sam...that is so sweet. I like when you tell me things like this. It makes me feel so happy," she said and lifted Sam's hand to put it on her face, brushing her cheek against Sam's rough hand.

"You seem happy even when I don't say this stuff," Sam mumbled. "Yeah, but I secretly wish that you'd open up a little more to me. I love when you do," Cat laid her head under Sam's chin and mumbled. "I'm trying." Sam simply stated.

Cat stopped talking and put her arms around Sam's neck again. They both laid back and relaxed on Cat's bed. Sam pulled out her Pearpod to listen to her music. Cat rested her head on Sam's chest and asked, "Can I pick a song?" Sam sighed and put one ear bud in, then gave Cat her other ear bud and the Pearpod.

"No way, there's tons of 80s music on here," Cat gasped. "What can I say? I love me some 80s to jam out," Sam stated. Cat's eyebrows furrowed. "I figure you'd like more rock or something. Not Duran Duran or...Talking Heads." Sam exhaled and put her hands behind her head.

"You gonna criticize my taste in music or pick a damn song?" She asked. "Alright alright, miss grumpy pants...ooh! Thompson Twins!" Cat said happily and picked the song. Sam sighed and felt Cat snuggle closer to her when the song played.

Cat hummed softly to the song while Sam stared at the ceiling, relaxed and ready to fall asleep. Suddenly, Cat turned the song when she saw the non 80s songs. "Who's The Big Scary?" Cat asked. "Just a nice band, what song do you want to hear?" Sam asked Cat. "Gladiator looks pretty good," Cat said.

They listen to the song, letting it play. Cat nodded her head to the song while Sam mumbled the lyrics. "Even when you aren't trying to sing, you sound nice." Cat said and traced her finger along Sam's shirt. "Don't be a suckup," Sam said listlessly as she started to slowly fall asleep. Cat sighed and picked another song after Gladiator ended.

She put on Band of horses and let the playlist play through all of their songs. She eventually fell asleep, kissing Sam's lips softly before laying back down and humming the songs that played in her head.
