A panther-like figure appears from the darkness, tackling Al to the floor. "Four." I breathe. He's back. Why is this all happening again? His yell distracts Peter enough for him to swing round, pulling the baby back over the railing. But as Four punches Drew square across the jaw, all of a sudden she is dangled over the edge again. I scream. No one hears me. Slowly, Four moves closer. Peter removes one finger from the baby's foot. Four edges closer still. Three fingers are left holding the child. Peter's smile widens. "Come closer. You can't save her now." He taunts. Four shifts his weight, assessing the situation. He should be tackling him for her! Why isn't he doing anything? He acts first and thinks later; what is he doing? My baby is now dangling over the chasm, held by the finger and thumb of my own attacker. I try to scream. Peter laughs. She falls. I watch, I'm helpless. The milliseconds tick by as she falls further and further into the water that swallows her. "FOUR!" I yell. "FOUR!" I feel sick. I shake, my body weak. I crumple in a heap, every muscle quaking from the sheer effort of existing. "Four?"
