Kol's POV

I groaned as I woke up, pulling at the rake in my chest and wincing slightly as it came out.

My eyes narrowed as my memories rushed back.

I had been standing outside the Gilbert house when what felt like rocks flew at my head, and as I scanned the area it hadn't taken long for the two offenders to bolt from their hiding place.

I had wondered for a moment if they had simply been playing a prank on the wrong person before deciding I didn't really care. I took off after one of the blonde girls and bit into her neck.

It was only when she managed to stake me that I realized she must've known what I was...in that moment I decided when I came back to life I would kill her.

I absent mindedly noticed it had been the same girl I had noticed earlier at the bar, so I guess the pretty ones can't be trusted after all.

As I got up I dusted myself off, leading me to notice the absence of the white oak stake.

I yelled out in frustration and flipped a nearby car before speeding home to my dear brother; most likely the mastermind behind this attack.

"Niklaus! Where is the stake?" I yelled as I barged through the door, finding him sitting on the couch and drinking bourbon.

"What are you on about, Brother?" he rolled his eyes as I marched closer.

"The stake you sent those twins to retrieve, where is it...Brother," I growled bitterly.

His eyes narrowed as he realized what I was talking about.

"You mean the white oak stake? The white oak stake that can kill an Original?" he hissed.

It dawned on me that he wasn't behind the attack and my eyes narrowed even further.

"It was taken from me tonight, do you mean to tell me you had nothing to do with it?" I yelled.

He didn't answer immediately, and instead turned away from me and walked slowly to a table next to the wall.

"That is exactly what I mean to tell you," he answered through clenched teeth.

"Well then we have to get it back," I exclaimed, but Klaus shook his head in response.

"No...you have done quite enough already, I will get it back by myself...would you mind doing the honours Dear Sister?" he said slowly.

Suddenly I felt the familiar feel of a dagger enter my back. I spun around to face a newly appeared Rebekah. "I'm sorry Brother, you are doing more harm than good here," she whispered.

I felt myself desiccate and fall to the floor, then all at once I felt nothing.

Nevada's POV

Walking into the bathroom the next morning I couldn't help but grimace at the white bandage being sported on my neck.

I started to brush my hair out, letting it fall over the bandage in an attempt to hide it, when Cody walked by in the hallway. He paused in the doorframe and stepped inside, leaning against the wall behind me.

I held my breath and looked down, trying to keep him from seeing my neck.

"Good morning sleepy head," he laughed and I rolled my eyes before I continued brushing my hair. His gaze shifted to my neck.

He walked forward and flipped the hair covering it out of the way. I wanted to make an excuse but I could see in his eyes he'd already pieced together what had happened.

"You two are going back immediately," he hissed and stormed out of the bathroom.

"Cody you can't be serious!" I yelled and he turned around.

"I don't want to hear it! I knew I shouldn't have let you two back here, I knew you would do something stupid! I didn't tell anyone about the vampire problem in this town because I knew you would come charging in here playing hero!" he ranted.

"If you would just listen-" AJ said, suddenly appearing in the doorway.

"No, if you won't listen to me then I won't listen to you," he interrupted. "I will not allow the two of you to get hurt, I love you guys too much for that."

AJ and I stared at him in shock, unable to believe he would send us away after just one day.

"On your birthday you can leave the coven just like I did, but until then you stay there...I'm your legal guardian now and I'm sending you back," he said, then added softly, "today."
