Jamies´s POV
Every member of the clan had some kind of special ability. I for example had an incredibly fine hearing which was the reason why I was part of the defence team that was responsible for protecting the people from attacks.
That is why I heard the quiet scream all the way to my office which was about 50 metres from Sarena´s cell. I was wondering from where that scream came. I thought to myself that the young ones where probably fighting over their positions again. “Help! Somebody Help!” they shouted “Call for the healer!” Another one shouted. At that moment I knew that it wasn’t the young ones fighting, it was something else. My heart started racing, dropping the pen I was holding I sprinted to the prisoner cell where they held Sarena. I was afraid that something had gone wrong, that the liquid in the green bottle did not do its job. I was only five metres away when a fact stuck me with overwhelming force. I could not hear a heartbeat, or a chest gently rising and falling, there was actually no sound that I could hear. That was a good sign. Nonetheless I was frightened. All of a sudden I felt a terrifying pull around my heart. I ran the last few metres to the outer door which had been closed for privacy. I yanked the door out its hinges and threw it behind me; it came down with a loud clang. I raced to the next door and through it open where I stopped dead in my tracks. My heart stopped when I saw Sarena lying on the floor, in a pool of crimson red blood, but soon started again when I saw the faint glow of pure white energy around the edges of her body. The liquid had done its job. I let my eyes wander around the room and I stopped when I came to Prince Azur. I remembered our conversation that we had earlier this morning when a group was sent out to capture Sarena in the woods.
………………………………………
“Jamie I need you to do something for me” he said. I was standing in his office that overlooked the whole of the village. Not many of us had the honour of actually setting a foot onto the almost antique rug that covered the floor of expensive, highly-polished mahogany wood. The walls were hidden from my sight by huge floor-to-ceiling shelves filled with books that were older than the village itself which was more than 500 years.
“How may I serve you?” I asked, I was aware of the fact that I was just sucking up to him, but it made him feel in charge and may just save my life. Prince Azur was incredibly powerful; just one look could break every bone in ones body.”Jamie I needyou to locate Coeli Salutari for me. I have sources telling me that she has been seen wandering our territory.” In our world Coeli Salutari is our heavenly saviour sent to us by our Patron Sapree when great trouble is near.
“I shall return with Coeli Salutari as soon as possible, but let me ask what has happened.”
“Terrible things have been happening. I am afraid Coeli Salutari has been killed. Its replacement has been seen wandering our territory. She has to be found before something happens to her as well.”
“As you wish, my lord.” With a deep bow, I quickly made my exit and I was relieved to have left his office alive and in one piece. Next up was doing a good job in finding that girl without conjuring up Prince Azure´s anger.
…………….
Right now, I breathed a sigh of relief. Azure seemed to be happy with my actions. He stepped forward as the healer got up and quietly talked to him, then he turned to the others.
“Alright everyone” he said his voice bouncing back loudly from the concrete walls “The show is over. Go and return to your duties. Jamie, I need to talk to you.”
His gold induced brown eyes flashed dangerously.
“Jamie, I am aware of your love for this girl, I can smell from a mile away. Take her to your quarters and monitor her progress and I swear to god if we lose her, I will rip you into tiny pieces. Are we clear?”
His words were supposed to frighten me, but they literally showed me how deep my love for Sarena really went. So instead of saying a single word, I curtseyed which resulted in both of us laughing our heads off. After I gathered my thoughts, I said my goodbyes and gently lifted her into my arms. She looked unbelievably beautiful although she was drenched in half dried blood. I would have to give her a bath and fresh clothes before I sticking her into my bed. The thought of this made my heart leap joyfully. It took me serverak hours to get her cleaned and dressed. Now she was lying in my bed. I sat down in a chair opposite her. A long wait began.
