Gregory's pov

Miss Annie ran out from behind the rock. The men in the car ran up to her and started talking to Annie. They seemed friendly.

"Gwegowy!"

I ran out from behind the rock and ran to Cardboard Friend.

"Stop him!"

Someone tackled me and I fell down.
"NO! Cawdboawd Fwiend save me!"

"Get away fwom Gwegowy!"

I couldn't see what was happening, all I saw was dirt. Well, mud. I think I was crying. Cardboard Friend was mad. That wasn't gonna end well.

The person on top of me talked in my ear.
"Listen kid, that thing is really bad news."
I didn't recognize that voice. It must have been one of the men from the car.

I didn't like being away from Cardboard Friend. He promised that he would protect me. He can't protect me if he's gone.

"CAWDBOAWD FWIEND!!!!"

Spooker's pov

Ghost was screaming like a little kid while Toast and Annabelle fought the creepy cardboard monster. That thing gave me the creeps, and I think it was effecting Ghost. He was acting weirder than usual, and that's saying something.

Toast shot the thing with his crossbow and it went down. Annabelle hit it with her bat and it disappeared.

"Alright Spooker let him up."

I got off Ghost and helped him up. He pushed my hand away and started to run back to the house. Luckily, ghosts like me can teleport so he didn't get far. I held on tight to his arm.

"So what do I do with him?"

Toast thought for a second before he had an idea.
"Tie him up and put him in the back seat of my car. Miss Annabelle and I will take him back to headquarters. You go pick up the van from the Accachalla's and go to the airport. Colon's plane should be here soon."

I had completely forgotten about Colon. I couldn't wait to tell him about how we got a new member. And this time it was a girl. According to Toast, the last girl working in the company was Ghost's girlfriend Katrina. I don't know what happened to her but I could tell it was a touchy subject.

"I'm on it Toast."

Toast's pov

After Spooker left, Miss Annabelle and I began to restrain Gregory. I almost had him tied up when he pulled something out of Miss Annabelle's pocket. It was a silver whistle.

"Don't you dare blow that."

Gregory pulled a smirk that made him look a bit more like Sir and blew it hard. The wind picked up and for a second we seemed to be surrounded by a mini tornado. When the dust finally settled there before us stood Maxwell.

"What the-?"

Maxwell glared at Miss Annabelle.
"I thought I said emergencies. This does not appear to be an emergency."

She glared back, not in the least bit surprised.
"Don't blame me. The kid did it."

Maxwell looked over at Gregory.
"That hasn't happened in a while."

"Am I the only person who doesn't know what's going on."

"Out of all of us here, yes."

I crossed my arms.
"Would someone like to explain why Miss Annabelle has a whistle to summon Maxwell?"

Miss Annabelle blushed.
"I'll tell you when Johnny goes back to normal, it concerns him too. Until then, I'll drive us back to headquarters and you can explain what's going on."

We all pilled onto the bus. Miss Annabelle and I in the front seat an Gregory and Maxwell in the back.

"It's kind of a long story. I don't know exactly what happened, I've just kind of stitched this together based on things Cardboard Friend and Jimmy have said, and what his mother said before she left the country."

So I began to tell the story. Occasionally stopping to give directions.
