Annabelle's pov

I drove slowly to PIE headquarters. I couldn't believe that I was being forced to do this. I also couldn't believe how cruel Ghost was being, he had seemed so nice before.

I locked the truck and sheepishly opened the door. It was a small office with a reception desk near the door, at the desk sat a guy who didn't look too much older than me. He wore a purple (or is it pink?) beanie and was talking to a stuffed black cat.

"Oh hi I'm Fred but everyone calls me Spooker. What brings you here?"
He held out his hand to me.

I shook it.
"I'm Annabelle Grace. I'm the new employee."

Just then Ghost walked in, in his usual hoodie and holding a cup of what smelled like tea.
"Oh good you're here. I'll take it from here Spooker. Go take that freaky demon thing somewhere else."

Spooker saluted.
"Yes sir."

Ghost sighed and watched him leave.

"Demon?"

"Don't ask. Now we need to get you some gear. Every member of the team wears our emblem somewhere. I have my hoodie, Toast has a little armband that he wears, Spooker has his beanie, and Colon has one too. Spooker and Colon are interns, we don't pay them, but to help convince you not to call the cops I am actually willing to put you on as a full member."
We stopped at a closet and Ghost opened it to reveal all sorts of clothing items with the PIE emblem on them.
"Take your pick."

I picked up a cut off denim jacket with the symbol on the back. I put it on over my old Ghost Busters shirt and turned to Ghost with a frown.

"Okay now we go see if Toast has any jobs lined up."
He turned and continued down the hallway.

I followed behind reluctantly.
"You are a despicable human being."

He shrugged.
"I've been called worse. Listen, let's be clear, I'm not nice. I do my job, I get paid, I protect Toast. That's it. Being nice isn't my job, so suck it up buttercup."

By that point we had reached a back office where Toast was waiting for us.
"Good morning Madam."

"Hello Toast."
I decided to be nice to him. After all, he was the only reason I wasn't dead.

"Any jobs lined up yet Johnny?"

"One Sir. But, I don't believe we should take miss Annabelle with us."

"Why?"

"It's Maxwell."

Ghost laughed.
"We can take him by ourselves on a bad day. This will be a good chance to break her in."
He clapped his hand hard on my shoulder and I flinched away from him.

"Sir I believe you're making her uncomfortable. Maybe you should stand over here."
He gestured beside himself and Ghost moved. I gave Toast a thankful look.

After packing all the equipment we hopped into the Totally-Legit-White-Van and drove off while Toast explained what was going on and who Maxwell was. This will be interesting.

Maxwell's pov

I had been watchin' those idiots for a bit now and I found the new girl interestin'. She seemed to completely dislike Ghost, but I could tell he wasn't the base of her anger, she wanted revenge on someone. Maybe I could help her with what she wants and she'll help me. I just needed to separate her from the others and have a "friendly chat." It was simple really, lock a few doors, make a few noises. Simple. When I had her alone I decided to stay invisible for a bit, just to mess with her.

"Howdy little lady."

She was so scared it was almost funny. She had her little gun pointed out in front of her in one hand, all up on her toes.

"Now really, that gun ain't gonna do ya no good holdin' it like that."
I made myself visible.
"Ya gotta do it like this."

I held the gun in front of me with both hands and put both my feet square on the ground. I aimed at a vase in the corner of the room and shot at it. I hit it square in the center and busted it. I looked back at the little girly and saw that she was lookin' at me like I was the most amazin' thing she had ever seen.

"Well go on. You try."

She copied me and aimed at a paintin' on the other side of the room. She hid it dead center. Then she looked at me again.
"Why are you helping me?"

"Well Buckshot, I noticed that you and Ghost don't quite get along."

"That's an understatement."

"Well anyways, I don't exactly like him either. I was hopin' ya would be willing to help me with somethin'."

She frowned.
"I would love to do something to that jerk, I really would, but if he even suspects me of something it would be bad news for my brother and I."

I nodded.
"Family, that's somethin' I can respect. I mean I can't stand my family, but I understand how ya feel. My only question is, what are you afraid of? What could possibly-"
Suddenly I got it.
"Casket."

"How do you-"

"Annabelle! Where are you?"

"I'll explain later. Just do me a favor, don't tell anyone about this. I can tell you want revenge, and not on Ghost. On someone more important. If you want to do this right Ghost might be of some use to you. I'll be back later, play nice until I get back."

"Okay."
