A few hours later, I was laying on the couch with Claudia in my arms. We were watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates together because she had asked me to. I looked at the number that was on my hand and I thought, "I can't call him. I just can't." Then I heard a car door shut outside and Claudia gasped, "Aunt Braden's here!" She got off the couch and I did too. Braden and Sam walked through the door and Claudia jumped into Braden's arms. "There's my girl!" Claudia giggled and Braden put her down. Sam shut the door and Braden looked at me and mouthed, "Did you call him?" I shook my head and she rolled her eyes. "Claude, why don't you sit down with Sam while mommy and I talk." Claudia nodded and sat down while Braden dragged me to my bedroom. She shut and locked the door and said, "Why didn't you call him!?" I rolled my eyes. "I was afraid to, Braden!" She crossed her arms over her chest. "You can't hide him from Claudia forever, Christine! You're going to call him! And he will come over!" I was really mad at Braden, but she did have a point. She threw me the cordless and said, "Call him." I growled and dialed the number that was on my hand. I put the phone up to my ear and I heard it ring twice before it picked up. "Hello?" A deep voice said. I gulped and stuttered, "J-Johnny?" It was silent for a moment before he said, "Christine, is that you?" "Yes it is." I sat down on the bed and Braden sat down next to me. "Baby...listen to me...I'm so sorry baby. I really am...I shouldn't have done what I did." Tears started falling down my face. "Johnny, please...it was me...I know it was." "Listen, I wanna come over. I wanna see Claudia." I wiped my face and he asked, "Is anyone over?" "Yeah Braden is." I heard him sigh and he said, "I'll be over there in an hour." I smiled. "Ok Johnny." Right before I was about to hang up he said, " I love you." My heart started beating fast. "I love you, too Johnny." We hung up and Braden screamed. "He's coming over!" I smiled and that's when Claudia came in. "Mommy, what's wrong? You're crying." She walked over to me and wiped my tears away. "Nothing, baby." I pulled her onto my lap. "Claude, I have the best news." She nodded and moved her hair our of her face. "Yes, mommy." Braden left the room and I said, "Daddy's coming over tonight. You'll finally meet daddy!" She gasped and smiled. "My daddy's coming over? Tonight?!" I nodded and she hugged my neck. I heard Braden and Sam leave and I said, "We need to clean the house for daddy." She nodded and climbed off my lap. We cleaned the house and I helped Claudia clean her room. After we cleaned the house, I was making chicken fajitas for dinner. Claudia was sitting on the counter and playing with her doll. "Mommy?" I smiled at her voice. "Yes, baby?" "Is daddy a good daddy?" I looked into her eyes. "He is when he can be." I made three plates and we started eating at the table. I looked at the clock and it was over an hour. Later we finished and Claudia laid on the couch with her doll while I did the dishes. When I finished I went outside to smoke and wait for Johnny. Right when I lit the cigarette, I black car drove up in the drive way and I froze at the person who got out of it. There he was, dressed in black jeans and a white shirt and boots. He walked up to me And I turned on the porch light to see his face. I wanted to hug him, yet I wanted to hit him so bad! "Christine? Is that you?" I blew smoke. "Yeah it is." I put out my cigarette and I loomed into his eyes. My body was jumbled with so many emotions at that time. Then he took me into his arms and hugged me. I felt his very long goatee tickle the back of my ear and it almost made me giggle. "Oh baby I missed you so much." He whispered. I started crying and Johnny said, "Baby, let me explain..." I shook my head that was buried in his chest, "Tomorrow you can, but right now there's someone in the living room that is dying to see you." I took his hand and we went inside together. I shut the door behind him and I saw his eyes fasten on our sleeping daughter. I saw his reaction and his eyes softened. I took him over to her and we knelt down by the couch. "Johnny, this is your daughter Claudia Antoinette Collins." I looked into his eyes and he was crying. "Oh Christine, she looks just like you." He wiped his nose on the back of his hand and touched her doll. "She still has this?" He asked. I nodded. "Never takes her hands off of it either." He smiled and picked up her up. I showed him her bedroom and he laid her down in her toddler bed. Then we sat down at the table and he started eating fajitas. Then we went to my bedroom and he took off his jeans, boots, and shirt. I got dressed in my pajamas and we climbed in my bed. Johnny wanted to hold me, but I didn't know if I could let him back in my heart again. He would have to prove to me that he could be the loving Johnny that he was before he left us. Instead I just laid on his shoulder with my nose in his neck, and that is how we fell asleep that night.
