CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE: JUST CAN'T LET HER GO

*CHER'S POV*

"She's so mean but I kinda love it and I just can't let her go... lalala-lalalalalalala, I just can't---"

"Don't you have anything better to do?" I interrupted Harry's singing.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I annoy you, love? I was just rehearsing for later..." He asked with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.

"I just don't get it. Why do I have to babysit you of all people? From the looks of it, you're clearly Simon's favorite" I sighed heavily.

"Babysit? I prefer the term chaperone or personal assistant. It's just a one-night gig anyway." He shrugged it off like it's no big deal.

"Why can't one of your fellow members assist you out?" I crossed my arms.

"Because... I specifically requested a female to do the job and besides, the other guys already refused to help me with MY event." He boasted.

'Maybe because you're such a prick? Haha.' I thought.

I find it troublesome to accompany this dude over here to his solo fan-signing event and it has to be on a freakin' weekend.

"Guess you're stuck with me then... oh, and word of advice, you should probably wear a disguise so that you won't get trampled on by my fans." He all but grinned.

*HARRY'S POV*

I felt like I'm going on an ACTUAL date with Cher!

Good thing she can't refuse any favor from my man, Simon.

"What am I supposed to do? Manage your schedule? I'm no manager." She complained.

'All you have to do is stay by my side and everything's going to be okay...' I wanted to say.

"No, you're in-charged of making me look good... like fixing my make-up and all and wiping my sweat." I explained.

"You should've just hired a nanny." She made fun of me.

"Why don't you just keep your mouth shut for the best?"

I know that she hates me because of the past wherein I used to bully her so... baby steps first.

I'll make her love me by showing her my 'cool' side as I serenade her with the song that I've been working on.

I'm a romantic alright.

Okay, you got me, this whole fan-signing event is just a cover-up.

The real deal is to perform especially for her like a private concert but with the use of a crowd as a camouflage.

It's like masking my true feelings through a performance...

But why does she have to wear a 'boy' disguise of all clothing?!

It reminds me of the time wherein we went to shop for groceries in the mall and the paparazzi caught her and Zayn in a scandal as 'intimate friends'.

"Breaks a billion hearts,

I know I'm next in line,

but I don't mind...

I want her,

Everybody wants her,

She knows it, eh eh eh"

I looked straight as to where she was standing in the crowd, singing directly to her.

I don't even care if she looks like a guy right now... she's still beautiful as ever.

We had this sort of connection for a brief moment and I thought I saw her smile at me? I hope she got mesmerized by my voice...

Almost time for my retouch! Or a short break.

*BACKSTAGE*

I had a big smile on as I made my way backstage, ready to receive Cher's tender loving care.

"Here..." She roughly patted my face with a towel. So much for being tender.

"Can't you be more gentle?" I asked nicely.

"Oh, that was me being gentle. Can't you tell?" She wore a fake smile.

"You don't get it do you?" I asked curiously as I got distracted for a bit.

I felt a sudden chill of ecstacy as she brushed her fingers across my forehead while she fixed my hair in place.

"Get what?"

I forgot how clueless she can be...

So I got a hold of her arm as she was busily tending my face.

I held her gaze and gave her a 'serious' look.

Oh crap, now I want to kiss her again... every single time I look down on her lips but that would be forcing myself unto her.

"Forget it." I released her arm from my grip then backed away which took a lot of effort and determination to do so.

*CHER'S POV*

I have to admit that Harry's voice is undeniably good but I'll just keep it to myself for I don't want to inflate his ego any further.

Is it just me or was he looking at me the whole time he was singing?

Anyway, I returned back to my spot in the crowd and waited for him to reemerge on stage.

"Now it's time for the autograph session! Kindly please start lining up..." Harry announced which made the fans scream excitedly. So noisy...

I saw some guys bring out a table and chair for him to sit on and sign.

"You a fan?" A girl beside me asked.

"Um, probably?" I wasn't so sure of what to answer for I might get bullied here just because I'm not a fan of Harry's.

"Well, I'm not. The guy's a fluke." She replied bitterly which surprised me.

This made me turn to look at her and examine her up close.

She had a long hair and was quite gifted in height for she was taller than me and was sporting a white skirt which gave her the 'office lady' or 'secretary' vibe.

She's really stunning alright...

"You're an anti-fan of his?" I inquired.

"Yeah. He's such a douche. Zayn is so much better... now he's the real stud!" She said dreamily.

Then why was she here in the first place?

"I think that we'll get along pretty well. What's your name?" Not because I think that Zayn is better than Harry but because I'm not really a fan of the latter.

"Uh, Veronica." She coughed which I swear that I heard a deep manly voice coming from her?

"What do you say we get out of here?" She suggested.

I eyed her from head to toe for a double-take and that's when I realized the uncanny resemblance.

"Zayn?!" I stared at the person right in front me.

She didn't say a word and just grasped my hand then lead me to the exit, completely out of there...
