CHAPTER FIFTY-EIGHT: WHAT A BUZZ

*LIAM'S POV*

"I thought you were leaving today?" Cher said when she found me in the kitchen the next morning.

"Aren't you going to..." stop me? I trailed off.

And that's when I remembered what REALLY happened right after I tripped on Sharon yesterday while we were making out...

*FLASHBACK*

"Look what you've done, you fatso!" I raised my voice at Cher's dog.

"Hey!" Cher sounded offended.

"I don't mean you..."

"I know but you shouldn't talk to her like that!" She scolded me.

"But you call her fat all the time..."

"Yeah, and I'm the only one who gets to do that. She's very sensitive when strangers call her names..." Now she's mad at me?

"And who told you that? Louis?" I scoffed.

She remained silent at this which means that her answer was a 'yes'.

What the hell?

*BACK TO THE PRESENT*

So we ended up fighting yesterday just because I snapped at Sharon...

Which means that the events after that were just part of my blissful dream last night.

Maybe the rooftop scene and the kissing by the front door bit would have happened if not for Sharon, my newfound nemesis.

*CHER'S POV*

I dialed Zayn's number right after Liam left because I thought that it was time to give him an answer.

"Cher, what is it?" He sounded rather nervous over the phone.

"I need to talk to you." I tried to sound serious enough.

"Oh. So you've finally thought about my proposal, huh?" He guessed.

"Yeah."

"Okay, I'll come pick you up over dinner so that we can have our talk in a fancy restaurant." He said.

"Zayn, you don't need to. I mean, it's not like you're asking me to marry you, right?" I scoffed.

"..."

"Or are you?" I was suddenly alarmed by his silence.

"Don't be silly! See you later..." He was laughing on the other end before hanging up.

******

"So..." I attempted to start a conversation.

"So... what were you going to tell me? I hope I'm not putting you in an awkward position or anything." Zayn smiled.

"Um, not really. I just wanted to tell you---"

"Wait! I just remembered that I have something to tell you too! Why don't you just forget what I said, huh?" He chuckled nervously.

What the? Can you believe this guy? Is he actually backing down from his confession?

"So you already assumed that my answer would be a 'no'? And that you're too much of a coward to hear me out, is that it?" I folded my arms across my chest.

"Uh, yeah." He looked anywhere but me.

"Well, too bad! I would've given you a chance..." I threw my table napkin aggressively to him as I stood up and began marching off.

"Wait! I wanted you to forget that I ever asked you to be my girlfriend because I was going to change the question to a 'Will you marry me?' Cher..." He said out loud for everyone to hear and that made me stop walking because all eyes were on me so it was pretty embarrassing.

I made my way back to our table like I just came back from the restroom. This is awkward.

"So I was right on the phone then? You WERE going to ask me to marry you."

"Yeah... which was why I sounded pretty nervous." I noticed that his hands were shaking.

"What are you thinking? We can't just skip the dating part! This is an even worse question... what if the media's following us?" I was worrying about a lot of things alright.

"They are following us. They're right behind you snapping pictures..." He coughed.

Just then, the waiter arrived with all the scrumptious-looking food that we ordered about fifteen minutes ago and the appetizing aroma of it ALMOST made me forget about my name and why I was here with Zayn in the first place.

"Here's a suggestion, why don't we resume our 'arguing' after we finish eating all of this food?" It's my way of saying 'I'm hungry!'.

"I have a better suggestion, why don't we have a fresh start? Like this is our first meeting ever? A clean slate." He said.

I was going to say that how can I pretend NOT to know him when I do know him since kindergarten but I just said,

"Okay, whatever." Because the food was begging me to eat them already before they start to get cold. It's one of my weaknesses.

"Hi! I'm Zayn and you are?" The guy extended a hand out from across the table for me to shake.

"Hungry. I'm hungry." I shot him a look which says, 'When are we eating for goodness' sake?!'

*ZAYN'S POV*

"Oh, okay... dig in then." I motioned her to start eating.

"I thought you'd never say that." She said sarcastically.

I eyed her intently as she chomped down A LOT of food like a starving panda which made her all the more adorable in my eyes!

How can she still look this cute even when she's shoving tons of food inside her mouth?

"You're creeping me out... are you just going to stare at me the whole time without even touching your food? I'd be happy to eat your share for you." Cher said when she noticed me gazing at her while smiling to myself.

Come to think of it, that is pretty creepy.

"Not until you tell me all about you." I tried the flirty yet seductive approach with the sexy smirk and all but she wouldn't even look at me! All of her attention was on the food...

"Oh my God! You have got to try this stuff out! I'm sorry, what were you saying?" She FINALLY glanced my way.

"Nothing. I should probably start digging in as well..." Since my 'flirting' isn't really working AT ALL.

Anyway, I began eating all of my food away and every once in a while, Cher would tell me one of her out of this world hilarious jokes in random and I'd laugh like a lunatic until my cheeks were red.

I even spilled some ketchup on my trousers when she did an impersonation of Simon!

Who knew she could be this happy and spontaneous when she's full?

"You got a bit in there." I was distracted by the mustard sauce on her lower lip. It was too yellow.

"I'll get it for you." I stood up from my seat and leaned forward in order to lick the yellow thing off of her bottom lip and I got a 'wide-eyed' reaction from her instead. I wonder why though.

I thought it was the most convenient thing to do than grabbing a tissue right in front of me. Now THAT would be a real hassle.

"There are paparazzis in here for crying out loud!" She whispered lowly.

"Screw the paparazzi! Here's to us..." I raised my glass of wine and she just stared at me like I was crazy or something.

I guess I'll just have to 'postpone' my proposal for now. I'll ask her to marry me some other time in a more romantic setting. Okay, the truth is, I forgot the ring but...

Tonight I drink wine with the girl I might love... what a buzz.

Scratch the 'might', will you? *Insert wink here*
