CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE: MERMAID

*NIALL'S POV*

"Louis, the weather does not look good." I looked up at the dark clouds in the sky.

"Yeah, you're right. I bet there's a storm brewing..." Louis sighed.

"Then shouldn't we bail and just go back by turning the boat around?"

"Go back? We can't go back. We're already in the middle of nowhere... completely lost in the sea." The guy stopped rowing.

Seriously? This is his idea of a perfect getaway?

*THUNDER STRIKES*

"It's starting to rain." I stated.

"Great, free water for us! The seawater's too salty to drink."

I gaped at him as if asking 'Are you serious?' and he just glared back at me with a poker face.

"What? You think this face is kidding? You want to survive don't you? Drink rainwater." For a second I thought he was endorsing a new water product but then he started singing 'If all the raindrops...' which made me think that MAYBE I'm not the crazy one around here.

"Yeah, I think I'm just going to swim back." I decided as the thunder and lightning got worse.

But it was too late. The rain poured down too heavily and the waves were nearly as big as Titanic. It was too scary to jump into the water!

"Niall, if I die, tell Cher I love her!" Louis shouted.

"But what are the odds that I'm going to make it alive?!" I shouted back and before he could reply, our small boat got devoured by a gigantic wave and everything went black...

*CHER'S POV*

"Hey." A blonde guy approached me as I sat by the bonfire.

"Hey yourself." I replied bitterly without making eye contact.

"I thought you could use a friend... what's with the attitude?" This time, I gave him a death glare which meant 'Get lost' but he just smiled back anyway.

"I'm Cody by the way. So, what's wrong?" He asked.

"I think I'm missing someone..." I blurted out.

"Ah, your boyfriend. I know the feeling." He nodded.

"You have a boyfriend?" I pried.

"No, a girlfriend." He chuckled.

"Well, good for you then. I don't really have a boyfriend." I stared at the fire.

"No way! You're way too pretty! You know, the more I look at you, the more I miss my girlfriend, Victoria. You kind of look like her in some angles." He studied my face up close... but not too close.

"Want me to hook you up with someone? I have some good-looking friends if you'd like."

"No thanks." I stood up, brushed my shorts free from sand then scurried off the beach.

******

The next morning, I went back to the beach for an early swim, hoping that there would only be a few people around but to my dismay, there were already tons of people...

I'm not very comfortable with walking around in just a bikini. I'm the conservative type, you see.

While I was just staring at the beach, someone unexpectedly snuck up on me and snatched my oversized shirt in a blink of an eye! As in, whisked it away from my body!
