This chapter is dedicated to _scorpion_fan_ships_ because it is the month of her birthday :) Also, this chapter is going to be one of the many surprises that I have planned for her birth-month. Happy: 27 weeks
Toby's POV
I hear ducks quacking and I know that it's time to wake up. I check the time to make sure that I woke up at exactly 6:27. Today the first day of Happy's birth-month!! I get dressed and make sure that Happy is still asleep. I grab my keys and head to the garage. Yesterday, I asked Walter if I could borrow the garage for a couple of hours to make Happy's first surprise gift of the month. I park the truck and head into the garage. It's empty and quiet. Perfect. I head to the storage cabinet and grab the poster paper and some sharpies. I fold the poster paper in half and turn it into a big birthday card. I write on the cover "52 Reasons Why We're PERFECT for Each Other" I color in the letters and open the card to fill in the blank space on the inside with the 52 reasons for why Happy and I belong together. About an hour and a half later, I finish and clean up the garage. I take the now-colorful card and head to the truck. I return to the apartment and see that Happy is still sleeping. I smile to myself and walk into the kitchen. I take out a pan and set it on the stove. I start to make pancakes, bacon, and eggs for Happy. Once I finish, I dance with excitement and place the plate on top of the birthday card, which is on top of the table. I get really excited for birthdays for many reasons. 1) I get a chance to appreciate the fact that someone has been born. 2) I love making people happy. 3) And finally, I love buying people gifts to show them that I care about them and to let them know that they are special to me. Happy is going to love this! I sit down at the table and wait patiently for Happy to wake up. This could take a while.
I'm sitting on my phone and look up to see that Happy has finally woken up.
"Happy birthday sweetheart!" I shout excitedly. She laughs and says "thank you". I give her a hug and a kiss before handing her the card and pulling the chair out for her. She takes the card and looks up at me. She thanks me and gives me another kiss. She opens up the card and starts reading. She gets about halfway before tears start falling down her face. She ignores the tears and smiles that beautiful smile of hers. I walk over to her and wipe away the tears. I wrap my arms around her and when she finishes reading, she turns her head and looks at me.
"This is very sweet, Doc. I love you so much." She says happily and kisses my cheek.
"I love you more, Hap. I meant every one of those things when I wrote them. You mean the world to me." She doesn't reply, but instead lays her head on my chest holds me close. After a moment of silence. She speaks.
"I know that you meant what you said, Toby. I'm just so overwhelmed right now. If I'm quiet, just know that I love all of this. And I love you so much that words can't even begin to tell you how much I love you." She finishes and becomes silent again
"I know, Happy. That's exactly how I feel whenever I see you. I want to tell you, but words can never seem to express the feelings that I have for you." I say. She just nods and we just sit there in silence. Happy may think that this is her actual birthday present, but trust me, this is just the beginning.
I walk out of the apartment with three boxes in my hands. I put at least ten boxes in the bed of the truck and I drive to the house that is finally ours. Happy was hanging out with Paige and discussing things about the baby. I'm thankful that Paige took Happy out of the apartment for a bit because I can finally start moving us into the house. I pull into the driveway and head into the house with the boxes. One by one, I empty out the boxes and set up the whole house. I got a move-in truck to deliver the couches, tv, and bed an hour ago, I drove Happy's motorcycle to the house already, and the only thing left to do was fix up the house and make it more, well, homey. It takes three hours for me to finish up everything and I head back to the apartment. As I arrive at the apartment, I see Paige and Happy pull up. Perfect timing, Paige. I smile and wave at them. Happy gets out and thanks Paige. When Paige leaves, I open the door to the now empty apartment and lead Happy in. Her jaw drops when she sees that there is nothing left in the apartment except for the ceiling fan.
"Doc, what...when...how..." She stutters and I just shut her up with a kiss.
"Don't ask any questions. What's done is done, Hap. Shall we head home?" I uncontrollably smile and she returns it. She nods her head and we get into the truck and head home. I can't help but smile when I remember the fact that my life is just beginning and that our family is finally starting to become more official with every day that comes. We get to the house, pull into the driveway, and as I open the door I say, "Happy birthday, Happy. Welcome home."
