Emilia's POV

She's so sweet to say that to me. "You're amazing, thank you. That's the sweetest thing I've ever heard." I said, feeling hope in the bottom of my heart.

Days passed, and my treatment was not confirmed yet. Treatment would take very long, so I would be excused from the hospital as soon as my concussion got better. Ava was released a week earlier, but asked for a separate room to share with me in the hospital. She will stay until I am checked out. My mum travelled back to Dubai, my dad to Russia, but Chrys offered to travel to stay with me. Over the phone, I explained to her that she was only in ninth grade and needed to continue with her studies.

"Chrys, Ava is with me, please, stay behind, I'll be fine. Missing a year of school will hold you back, and you work too damn hard to pass up an opportunity for school with A Star grades, this will lead you to college, and will lead you to a degree, you need this. I'll be fine. I love you, Bye."

She didn't want to listen. "Chrystal I said you're staying. You are not going to miss school and that's an order."

She still wouldn't listen. This is the first time she has ever argued back. "You're crazy, Em. You have cancer. Cancer! I study biology, I could help you! Give you herbs that can help, dad won't need to pay-"

I cut her off.  "The topic is closed, you're not coming. I am the older sister, not you. Dad will pay. He put me in this situation and he's getting me out of it. He's not just going to permit this. I dare him to." I snarled with anger. Ava stole the phone out of my hand.

"Em, you're not allowed to use a mobile. Your cancer will deteriorate, this is a source of radiation. I'll talk to her."

Chris was told the whole story. The plane, the cancer, the money, my father. Ava exposed my sisters reaction. Not the best. She was, however, convinced not to fly out.

A few days passed.

I slept a lot, bearing in mind that I was under the influence of severe sleep enhancing pills. Many of the times, Ava would need to remind me. Scratch that. Most of the times, she needed to remind me. She wakes me up when it's time for my meds, she wakes me up when the nurses bring my food, she helps me with everything.

Within hours of our thirty-seventh day in the hospital, I was let in on my chemotherapy.

"Good morning, Emilia. How are you feeling? How does your head feel? I suppose your head feels better, seeing as your concussion in full you healed? The piece of glass that has been implanted in the slash at the fourth vertebrae in your spine is now fully healed."

Wait...say that again?!

"C-can you please repeat that? What slash?" I asked, very concerned about my back. Perhaps this was the reason I had horrible back aches?

"Let me. When we were in the plane, we both got glass stuck in our backs. Same place. We both had ours removed during anesthetic surgery. That's why we both felt pain the next day. Don't worry, I was told this morning. We've fully healed."

"Show me." I was curious. What did she mean, same place? Ava lifted the back of her shirt to reveal a big mark, welt, in the shape of a heart. Well... something that looks like a heart. She tooled me to the large mirror in our room, as I was excused to lifting myself and standing up. She unbuttoned my hospital apron, exposing my back to the cold air. She was right. Both our welts were in the same place.

"They're the same. They match up!" We brought our backs side my side, my right rib touching her left. The hearts joined like a drawing. I now had my other half.

"What're the odds? You complete each other. Emilia, your chemotherapy. We can't wait any longer, you're getting worse, once we start the treatment, it will put your deterioration on pause. Let's go."
