* Three hits *

"What? Why?" Emilia cried. "Your honor!"

"Rise to talk."

"Stand up, dear." Whispered Nalia, the girls' lawyer. She was in the plot with Aviara.

"William Liberty had legal authority to use a gun from Leading Officer Jonah. The gun was also unloaded!"

There was a wide gasp coming from the room.  "It wasn't loaded! Will used it as a good distraction so officer Jonah could come in!"
                  Silence...Pin drop silence...
"If the gun is unloaded, its not considered using a gun. And I have proof. "

The judge questioned what an 18 year old girl would know that an honorable judge wouldn't.

"Law sixty seven. Unloaded weapons do not get considered as crime even if unlicensed.  This means, you can not jail William Liberty for a crime he did not commit. I wanted to ask, isn't this Nates trial?"

The crowd started muttering like crazy, children asking the same.

"I'll accept it. I lift the sentence off William Liberty."

*Three thuds*

Usually, you'd expect to go back home and party, because you get your boyfriend out of jail, and your enemy is in jail. Everything was perfect.

A week later, Emilia felt something was wrong.

As she stepped into her bedroom, something was way off.
Let me paint a picture for you. What do girls spend their time doing? When the moment of their happiness is literally in their hands? Well... lets see, girls rush to the mall, arm in arm with their best friends, to buy that cute crop top hoodie that says "We Matter" in bold, black letters. They gossip about who Chelsea Cutler was talking about in her song "your shirt", they think about that new brat that cheated on her boyfriends-all four of them. I must add, girls sit in Starbucks, sipping their pumpkin spice latte with their phones at hand, asking their best friend "what do I say? He's typing OMG " thats what girls do when they're happy. They don't walk into their room, realizing that their white carpet is smudged with black eye pencil and black... what is that? Black lipstick?
I never knew she had black lipstick... thought Em. "Ava, whats go- oh my god are you okay? What happened? Come he-" She said, pulling Ava in for a hug. Ava was sprawled on the floor, her closet flipped inside out, and all her jewelry was either tangled in her hair-nest, or was covered in cheese.
"Don't. Leave me alone." Ava scrapped Emilia off to the side, and had fury in her words. "Where were you, this whole week? Why didn't you answer any of our phone calls? I gave you 319 phone calls! You answered none of them!" Tears gushed down her face, the black liner smudging across her eyelids that she so constantly rubbed, and a sandwich was placed firmly in her hand .
"What do you mean? I was camping at Will's apartment. What the hell happened?"
The poor, clueless girl had no idea why she was so madly hated.
"Look, its not the best place for you to be. I packed your stuff, its in the garage, and you can sleep on the couch. If you need a place to stay, go to Will." She said, spitting venom in her words. She was burning with frustration and attempted to open a can of pills... those are drugs, for overdosing! She screamed inside. "What are you doing? Leave the pills! Suicide isnt the answer!"
But Ava wasnt picking up the point. "These are stress relievers. If you'd like to know what happened, maybe you should ask Will. I bet he'd know!" She cried even more.
"Janel, what the hell is happening?"
Janel ignored her, but Kaya spoke up, but was pissed. "Her mother is in hospital. Thats all she told us. Go on, talk to her! You didn't reply when she left you 300 texts and calls! Maybe you would learn to organize priorities!"
She rushed upstairs. "Ava! Ava I know what happened! How your momma? Is she feeling better? Send her my wishes to get well soon. Ava don't ignore me!"
"I CANT SAY THAT TO HER! SHES GONE SHES DEAD AND THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO!" Tears were no longer dripping down her cheeks, but the whole carpet was soaking. I mean literally. Ava stood up. Maybe if you would spend less time on your stupid boyfriend, you would actually understand what I'm going through!"
"I didn't know!"
"You were supposed to be there for me! Get out of my sight."
And so Emilia spend the night on the couch, and was at Wills place in the Morning. As the girl left both her places of safety, she went to the one place she could go to Francesca. Her sister. You're probably thinking "The hell? This girl has a sister?" Had. She had a sister. Franci died when she was 13, the year that Emilia turned 13. The girls were twins, but Emilias parents gave Franci away at the age of 13, the week before she died, after their mother discovered that Franci was sick and would soon die. The girls were told that Francesca was adopted and had to go back to her biological mother. Emilia put on the dress the girls received on their tenth birthday, but were told to wear it at 16. Emilia wore it only once before, to visit Francesca in her grave. "When I die, visit me once in the grave, but always at the sea. No matter where you are, I'll be like a little mermaid, following you in the depths of the ocean." And those were the last words she heard from the only person that could protect her from life. As Emilia walked to the sea, her red dress flowing like the wings of a fairy, Emilia took a deep breath, and let the cancer drag her into her sisters arms, forever.
