I'm not fine. How can I be fine? Do I look fine? I'm sick. Absolutely not okay... . I thought to myself.
Will took Emilia shopping for a wig. Emilia decided that she is leaning to something closer to brown, because No one wants it to look too obvious that their hair has drastically changed colour in the time-span of one minute. They went to "Wigs n Things" , the store in which Layea works. Layea is a friend that Em met in Dubai, but lost contact when she moved here. She entered the store with Will, and started looking around for the perfect hair. "I'm not going to consider myself fake...I'm not fake, right? Its the only thing i can do since i lost my hair from chemotherapy. "
"EMILIAAAA OH MY GOD HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN?" Yup. Let me introduce you to Layea. "Will, this is Layea." Em met her in Dubai. "Layea, Will. Will, Layea. Layea, how's everything? I see your dream is successful?"
She smiled "Yeah, thankfully I can help cancer patients all around the world, since this is my sixth brand! I opened one in Canada, Tokyo, Dubai, France, Spain and England. My seventh one is on it's way and it's going to be placed in The US of A. How are you? What happened?" She said with a concerned yet exited voice.
"Well... you mentioned that you help cancer patients?" Emilia felt disgusted with herself for being so hesitant. What's gotten into me? She wondered
"Yes. Why? Oh my goodness. You have cancer? Darling I'm so sorry, I never knew!" You could hear her voice trembling and it wasn't very pleasing.
"Yes. And I came here for your help. I need to find something thats not too obvious. Brown, perhaps?"
She looked at Emi with a wide grin.
"Follow me, I've got just the thing!"
She led Emilia to the back of the shop, while Will was staring at an ombre wig, as if realizing something important, and before Emilia was out of sight, he called for her. "Em, listen, I was just thinking, you don't need a wig. So what, you have cancer? You don't need to hide it, you're very strong and you should be happy that you're able to battle it." Emilia nodded towards Layea "Thanks, just, hold on a sec."
Around ten people in the store must have heard this, because heads turned as though names were specifically called. This look never appeared on Em's face, Will thought. And he was right. She never thought of it in a positive aspect. The only way it appealed to Emilia is that if she tells people that she has cancer, she would be considered a show off. With previous experience, she didn't need that. It wasn't the right time. "Will, I love you, and thank you, but revealing that I have cancer would only make me sound self-absorbed and attention-seeking, so it wont help me, rather cause problems. Many people know, and they're being kind about it, hell, even Alex, but many don't." With a smile, she thought of how lucky she was to be in love with a guy who cared about her. Not many people find love easily. Many spend days, and easily find people they think they love, however that isn't true love. Many people spend weeks. Many are so unlucky, that they spend years finding people that they would like to be with. Being in college didn't help focus on love. It helped keep attention off this wretched disease.
Emilia picked out a brown-to-ombre wig, and tried it on. "It's a snug fit."
"Yes, it should be. Its supposed to stay on for until you actually pull it off"
"Oh, okay. How much is it?" Emilia said, pulling out her wallet. "$30.60"
Emilia just about handed Layea the cash, when- "Wait. I'll pay." Said a blondie. Alex. "I've been an idiot to you. You've gone through enough. Here"
Alex met eyes with Emilia. It was as though you could see the ocean in Emilias eyes. They were crystal ice blue, but they had patterns like sea foam. Alex's however were hazel and although she found them a boring color, they were large and alluring, with little chips of faint green on the inside.
"I'm sorry. I was always trying to be better than you, because I thought your life was perfect. Now I know I should've considered what happens in your life. Again, I'm sorry." She seemed sincere to Emilia.
"Thank you. Apology accepted."
A hug is known to represent love, sadness or acceptance. In this case, the girls embraced each other in a hug of acceptance. "Oh my God. Will!" Emilia remembered. They searched the whole Sephora-sized store until they found him. "Hey...Alex. What are you doing here?"
He sounded surprised, thought Alex. "It's a long story, but I think Emilia and I are now friends?" Emilia smirked. "Of course." Will's jaw dropped. "I'm so confused... what's going on?" The girls laughed.
