Tyler turned off the camera and sighed, clutching at Mollie's hand like a lifeline; which I suppose it was. I looked around at all of the others to see a lot of different emotions, from fear, which came mostly from the other Pack members, shock from most of the Sidemen, sorrow from Michael and Nick and anger from the police officers that were gathered in the room.
"That was the last day we had with Rebecca and Lukas. They died a few hours after that."
We all sucked in a deep breath, I could feel the tension among the Pack members, mostly aimed at the computers. It seemed to have the power to control our lives and I knew it did. There was footage on there of us, of us when we were the most vulnerable.
"You guys never saw what happened, as in when Lachlan got the cut on his neck did you?"
There was silence among us, no. Neither Jerome, Vikk nor myself had been there at the time but when I looked over at Rob and Preston they both shook their heads. Tyler hovered his fingers over the control panel but hesitated, looking at Lachlan for confirmation. He nodded, his face going pale as he turned his head away from the screen.
"They'll have to know eventually." His voice was raspy and quiet, you could hear the fear in his words.
Tyler clicked a few buttons and switched the camera over to a room I recognised, the room we were in when we first arrived.
Preston was curled up in the corner, swathed in blankets and Rob was fast asleep on the floor. Lachlan and Jay were both awake, not talking but they both seemed to be completely at ease, the presence of the other comforting enough.
The light suddenly brightened and the door was pushed open quietly before Jay jumped up and pushed herself in front of Lachlan and froze. A gun was pointed at Rob's sleeping body before a quiet command was whispered and she moved away from in front of Lachlan.
The gun was lowered and the man stepped forwards, stepping directly in front of Lachlan, blocking Jay from his view. Behind him a man grabbed Jay and covered her mouth with a cloth, she fell limp within seconds. She didn't even have time to scream out of struggle.
The man took another step closer to Lachlan and he backed up, his back almost at the wall. He lunged forwards and grabbed Lachlan by his hair and dragged him closer, covering his mouth before he could yell.
Lachlan started to struggle against the man and he tried to bite down on the his hand. He was successful and the man let him go but the guy who was previously holding onto Jay pushed his friend out of the way and elbowed Lachlan in the chest. He coughed and started to wheeze, his breath temporarily knocked out of him.
The cloth was placed over Lachlan's mouth and his eyes started to close but he fought back as best as he could, unfortunately it wasn't enough. He fell backwards into the guys chest but he was pushed off onto the floor.
The two men stood over Lachlan for a little while, talking in hushed voices before one of them pulled out a knife and ran it harshly across Lachlan's neck. Blood started to spill over the floor and onto Lachlan's hoodie and hair but Jay groaned and sat up.
Both men bolted out of the door and closed it before Jay could do anything. Her eyes focused on Lachlan and she scooted over to his side, grabbing her grey bag and pulling a cloth out of it, pressing it to the wound.
Tyler turned the camera off and looked at Lachlan, then at the rest of the Pack. We shared glances at each other but stayed in silence. Most of us were looking at Lachlan and the bandages that were wrapped around his neck, before someone coughed to get our attention.
One of the police officers stepped forward and looked directly at Tyler before they spoke, uncertainty clear in their voice.
"Is there a way we can remove the footage so we can take it back to the station as evidence?"
Tyler nodded and turned around, pressing a few buttons before standing up on the control panel and pulled a memory stick out of the roof, then another and another. All in all he took 12 memory sticks down from the roof before handing them the officer and shutting down the computer system.
"There's about 5 years of critical footage on there. Most of the boring stuff was deleted by whoever worked here and the most important stuff was saved."
The officer took the sticks and placed them in his bag, waving everyone out of the room.
I decided to take the lead with Michael and Nick in my wheelchair, Tyler and Mollie looked completely out of it after seeing the footage. We trudged down the corridor for a while before Nick stopped outside a door, taking a deep breath. I paled when I saw the sign on the door.
'Infirmary'
Nick pushed the door open, but I looked over the others, nodding as we all thought the same thing.
"Only the police officers and us, please." The Sidemen looked like they wanted to oppose the idea but one of the officers nodded, pushing the rest of the Pack, Michael and Nick and Mollie and Tyler into the room with them, holding the door for their colleagues before closing it behind them.
The room was cold and I pulled my hoodie closer around my shoulders. The hospital had loaned us some clothes for the outing and I was grateful that the hoodie that they had given me was very thick.
The room was completely white, not a speck of dirt or dust anywhere and all around the walls were draws with little white slips of paper attached to the handle. I wheeled myself closer to one of the draws and turned the slip of paper over, reading the writing off out loud.
"Marie Caster."
A memory flashed in my brain, that was the name of a 20 something year old woman who had gone missing about 7 or 8 years earlier.
Some of the others started reading names off the tags, some of the names I could put a face too but others I made no connection with.
"May Schroder."
"Ben James"
"Carter Ensco."
"Rebecca Wright."
"Lukas Jackson."
At the last two names I shuddered, knowing that two people who I never knew were laying there.
Dead.
