Rj was restless for the whole week. Yes, it has been a week and Maine has not texted or called him yet. He's been trying to hold himself back from texting and calling her. He understands that Maine needs time to think too and that he should respect her decision. He actually wanted to smack his own head because how could he not think of that? How selfish.

So here he is on a Friday night. Munching on some pizza and soda while watching some show he thought was interesting. It was a tagalog movie entitled That Thing Called Tadhana. And if his memory serves him right, he watched this with Maine on its first day at the Cinema One Originals Festival which was way back November 2014.

"Lovey, dali na. Panoorin natin yung That Thing Called Tadhana sa Monday! Sige na, parang maganda eh. Panoorin mo yung trailer dali!" It was a weekend spent in the confines of his place. Staycation, according to Maine. She has been blabbering about this indie movie starring Angelica Panganiban and JM de Guzman.

"Tungkol ba saan yan? Saan nanaman yan, Lovey? Saka kelan? Monday? Ano ka ba, work day yon ah." Rj told her, not even sparing his girlfriend a glance. He was busy playing Clash of Clans on his phone. 

"Basta maganda yon. Jadaone yon eh! Pwede naman siguro magskip ng isang araw sa work. Ano ba. Sige na, Rj." She was clinging onto him, pinching his biceps and his cheek and kissing him too. Effectively distracting him, leading to his clan's defeat.

"Looooovey! Ay nako. Natalo ako oh. Ma-3 star ko na eh. Ay ang kulit." Rj put his phone down and took Maine into his arms. "Ang gulo gulo mo. Ano ba kasi yon?"

Maine glared at him. "So, you weren't listening to me? Kanina pa ako nagsasalita dito. Puro ka kasi CoC. Sabi na, dapat hindi mo na nalaman yang game na yan." She tried to get out of his hold, and she successfully did. 

"Ay sus. Joke lang. That Thing Called Tadhana. On Monday. Okay. Saan uli?" He told her. And no kidding, he saw her eyes light up. Like a kid who was told that she's going to the carnival. (C/N: Dukha po si ako. Di afford ang Disneyland. Hehehe.)

"Sa CCP. Totoo yan? Totoo talaga? Weeeeh lovey!!!!" She stood up and invited herself to Rj's lap. She kissed his lips. "Wala nang bawian ah!?" Another kiss.

He was smiling from ear to ear. He loves this version of Maine. This girl is not hard to please. Why is he the luckiest man alive?? "Wait. Isa pang kiss nga. Parang di pa ako sure kung gusto ko nga panoorin eh." Then Maine kissed him again, hard and long. Like her life depended on it. "Ba't ang sarap po? Opo na nga. Nonood tayo." He kissed her this time.

"Thank you po. Maganda yon promise. Tara dali panoorin natin yung trailer. Magugustuhan mo yon." Maine stood up, took her phone and sat on his lap again while browsing on Youtube for the movie's trailer.

She's the best and you are one lucky son of a father, he told himself. (C/N: WALEY.) They watched the trailer with her still on his lap.

Rj was taken out of his reminiscing when his phone suddenly rang. He quickly stood up from the couch and almost ran to his bedroom to get his phone. He was wishing it was Maine but was also keeping his hopes low just in case it was not her.

Mom calling...

Ignore | Accept

He groaned and answered his mom's call.

"Hello mom?"

"Rj! How are you? Are you with Maine?" Oh right. What Rj's mom knows is that they're still together. He does not need to let her know about the break up. He's gonna get her back anyways, so why bother right?

"No po. I'm not with her. Why? Ano po meron?"

"Wala naman. Namimiss ko lang yung batang yon. Sabihin mo sumama naman sayo pag bumisita ka dito sa'tin." Her mom said. Rj didn't know what to tell her. He's sure her heart's gonna break if she finds out that Rj broke Maine's heart. AGAIN.

"Okay po, ma. Sabihan ko po siya. Busy po kasi yon, syempre. Pero tignan po namin ha?"

"O basta sabihan mo siya. Ikaw din medyo namimiss ko na."

"Wow. Medyo namimiss? Medyo lang? Anak mo ba talaga ako? Hahaha."

"Oo naman. Mas namimiss ko lang talaga si Maine, 'nak. Wala akong kasama mag-bake eh." Yes, Maine and his mom's bonding when they're together is baking. Or sometimes, they try out the recipes his mom sees on Facebook.

"Okay, ma. Sige na. Pahinga ka na po. Love you."

"Love you too, Rj. Bye. Don't forget to tell Maine ha? Bye." Then his mom ended the call.

He's so glad his mom loves Maine as much as he does. His mom has always been picky when it comes to his girlfriends. Some barely gets a glance, some are lucky and gets a smile, some gets the cold shoulder without saying or doing anything. But Maine was the game changer. First meeting with his mom and she had already charmed her way to her heart. They immediately hit it off, even meeting up the next day to shop for baking materials and to have coffee. He remembered his mom's smile when she got home from her girl's day out with Maine. She smiled at Rj while giving him the bags she was carrying and told him, "Y'know what Rj? Maine's a keeper. You better keep her. Or else... Kakaltukan kita!" Then left him standing in awe, wondering if all that was a dream. 

He smiled at that memory, also because he has an excuse to text Maine! If he knows Maine well, she won't be able to resist his mom's charm. She loves his mom like her own. He's gonna text her about it and maybe talk her into coming with him tomorrow since it's a weekend. And it would be a nice surprise for his mom. He plopped back down on his couch and started composing a message for Maine.

To: M.M

Hi, Maine! I know you asked me to give you some space and some time to think. I just want to tell you that Mom's looking for you. Miss ka na daw niya. Puntahan naman daw natin siya. Text me. :)

"There. I think that's good enough." He told himself.

But before he could even send the text, he got a text message from an unregistered number.

From: 0915900****

Hi! It's Maine! :) Please save my new number and disregard the old one. Thank you! Have a great weekend. :)

This confused him. Was that really Maine? Why did she change her number? Is this one of her ways to ignore Rj? 

Wanting to confirm if it really was Maine, he replied to the text message.

To: 0915900****

Maine? Maine Mendoza?
