C/N: Hi, I know. I've been gone for so long. Sorry na. ✌🏻 After nung last update, nag slight vacation kami ng family ko sa Bicol because may mga relatives na umuwi from the Land of the Free. Tapos, nahirapan akong i-compose tong chapter na 'to. Di ko din alam why. But, eto na! Andito na uli ako and back to regular programming. Kay Ate na nag comment ng "Update please", eto na po. Hehehe. Thank you for still reading guys! I can't believe that this is still getting new readers. Welcome po!
Rj has been trying his best to have Maine talk to him again. It's like he's back to square one with her after that night. She didn't even spare him a glance. She just got off his car and walked to her condo building without looking back. He drove off that night feeling defeated and wanting to kick himself for being the ass that he is.
"Binreak-an mo dahil masyado kayong masaya at natatakot ka. Ang galing mo din eh." He told himself while he was in bed at 12nn. Staring at his room's ceiling and constantly checking on his phone, wishing that Maine finally responded to his text messages.
Rj wasn't always like that. Afraid of being so happy. Afraid of the imaginary pain he thinks will come after being immensely happy. When it started and why? He is not sure. All he knows is that everytime he's having the time of his life with Maine, he suddenly ends up sulking at the end of the day. Thinking that he's happy today because the next day, something bad is going to happen. The result? He pre-empts it. (C/N: Naniniwala siguro si Rj sa "better early than sorry". Char, imbento si acoe. Hahahaha.)
At 1pm, he decided to drive maybe to Maine's or just somewhere far. He took a bath and got into comfy clothes then took his keys and went to his car.
His first stop, the gas station. He rolled down his window and turned off his car's engine.
"Boss, unleaded. Full tank." He said.
"Start zero po, sir." The gas boy said.
While his tank was filling up, he heard the song playing so loudly at the gas station.
🎶 Ohh, Hindi ko maisip
Kung wala ka
Ohh, sa buhay koNariyan ka pa ba?
Hindi ka na matanaw
Kung mayro'n bang daraanang
Pasulong, pasulongOhh, Hindi ko maisip
Kung wala ka
Ohh, sa buhay ko 🎶"How very apt. Oo na, hindi ko maisip kung wala siya." He murmured then glanced at his phone. But still, no message from Maine.
"Okay na ho, sir."
He handed the guy his credit card and waited for his receipt then drove off.
He chanced upon a red light when he plugged his phone to his car's stereo and hit shuffle on his Spotify playlist and then the light turned green.
The first song started playing and he had to roll his eyes at what fate is trying to tell him.
🎶 Bakit pa ba nagawa
Nasaktan ko ang isang tulad mo
Na labis na nagmamahal
Di napansin na walang
Katulad ang alay ng pag-ibig mo sa akin
Ako sana muli ay patawarin 🎶He pushed on next and waited for the next song. He was driving to nowhere, just randomly taking a left or a right turn. And where his car takes him, then go. Then he noticed the song playing on his stereo. (C/N: Wow. Sana pwede rin natin gawin to no? But poorlyp, sadlyp hahahaha)
🎶 Paalam na aking mahal
Kay hirap sabihin
Paalam na aking mahal
Masakit isipin na kahit nagmamahalan pa
Puso't isipa'y magkaiba
Maaring di lang laan sa isa't isa 🎶"What the??? Ba't may ganito sa playlist ko????" He asked. But since he couldn't stop yet to check why, he just kept driving and just hit next again.
Around 4:45pm, he was already at Anonas and still unsure of where his destination will be. He stopped at Family Mart first and grabbed some snacks and something to drink for the whole trip. He also got some bags of ice to place inside the cooler that he keeps in his car's trunk. (C/N: Handy ng ganito, honestly. Hehe. Gawain ko to. 😂😅)
Once he got everything he needs for his random trip, he placed the ice and drinks in his cooler and moved it to the leg room of his passenger's seat and the food on the seat.
He saw that across Family Mart was St. Joseph Church. He crossed the street and went inside. There was no Mass going on but there were a lot of people praying. He is reminded of the prayer he said the last time he was with Maine. So he made the sign of the cross, kneeled and prayed the same prayer and some other things.
He stayed there for more than 30 mins before he continued on his roadtrip.
There was moderate traffic when he got to Katipunan LRT Station but it was still moving and bearable so he just entertained himself through the songs playing on his stereo.
🎶 I know you know that I made those mistakes maybe once or twice
And by once or twice I mean maybe a couple of hundred times
So let me, oh, let me redeem, oh, redeem, oh, myself tonight
'Cause I just need one more shot, second chancesYeah
Is it too late now to say sorry?
'Cause I'm missing more than just your body, oh
Is it too late now to say sorry?
Yeah, I know-oh-oh, that I let you down
Is it too late to say I'm sorry now? 🎶"Ewan ko, Biebs. Pero, siguro nga it's too late now to say sorry." He said, answering the lyrics to Justin Bieber's song. "Anak ng. Ba't ako sumasagot sa kanta. 'Raulo." Then he laughed.
He was traversing Marcos Highway at around 6:15pm and of course, there's heavy traffic.
He took a bottle of Coke from his cooler and opened a bag of Oishi Cracklings to munch on. Then he checked on his phone only to get disappointed. Still nothing from Maine.
It was almost 7pm when he got to Sumulong Highway and he's already skipped around 10 songs on his playlist when he landed on this song.
🎶 Can we fall, one more time?
Stop the tape and rewind
Oh and if you walk away I know I'll fade
Cause there is nobody else
It's gotta be you
Only you
It's gotta be you
Only you 🎶"Maine, kahit itong pinaka ayaw ko na boyband, alam na it's got to be you. Only you." He said. "Baliw na ata ako."
After his short "talk" with his self, he noticed that he was on his way to Antipolo already and is feeling famished as well.
Originally, he was planning on looking for a parking space with a view and just enjoy the city lights while having a beer or two. But his stomach had other plan so he kept on driving and saw Cafe Lupe.
He parked his car and then went inside to get seated.
He was waiting for someone to bring him the menu when he spotted a familiar figure that he knows all too well.
He was frozen in his seat and wasn't able to move. Contemplating on whether he should approach her or not. Especially when she got seated just a few tables from him.
"Sir, ito na po yung menu."
"Thanks." He said, not even looking at the girl who gave it to him.
He was looking through the menu when he made a decision.
"Maine?" He called.
"Hi Rj. Andito ka pala." She said.
