It was already 11:00am when they reached Mama's. Rj honked til someone opened their gate. Maine was still a bit quiet and scolding herself mentally. The moment Rj's car entered the driveway, Maine removed her seatbelt and when he turned off the car's engine, she went out of the car right away. She needs a little space from Rj.

"Nasa may gard---"

"Tine, parang may narinig ako bumusina. Sa ati--- MAINE!"

Before Ate Tine was able to finish whatever she was supposed to say, Mama was already walking towards the sala from the garden. She immediately saw Maine the moment she looked up and ran to her then caught her in a hug.

"Maine, anak! Jusko, namiss kita. Kamusta ka? Parang pumapayat ka ata? Hindi ka ba pinapakain ni Rj? Talaga naman yung lalakeng yon. Hayaan mo, kumain ka ng marami mamaya. Magluluto ako. Magbake tayo mamaya para sa merienda ha?"

Mama was speaking non-stop while hugging Maine. She didn't even ask Maine if she was with Rj and she didn't notice Rj at all who was still at the front door, looking at them.

Rj started walking towards them. Mama was still talking to Maine, not even allowing her to respond.

"Ehem." Rj had to clear his throat just to get his mom's attention.

"Rj! Andito ka pala!" Mama approached him and gave him a kiss and a hug.

"Grabe. Di niyo man lang naisip tanungin si Maine kung kasama ba niya ako o kung asan ba ako. Siya lang talaga namiss mo eh, no? Aminin mo na, ma." Rj pouted and then slumped into the sofa.

"Tampuhin ng batang to, no? Ba't mo ba to binoyfriend, iha?" Mama asked Maine.

Maine was about to answer but Rj beat her to it, asking his mom what she plans to cook for lunch so he and Maine could go to the grocery. Maine was just looking at him, a bit puzzled.

"Chicken Curry, 'nak. Parang nakakamiss kasi."

"Namiss ko nga yung Chicken Curry mo, ma." Maine said and Mama smiled at her.

"Tapos bumili kayo ng pang butterscotch. Para yun ang gawin nating merienda mamaya, ha? Osige na alis na at anong oras na."

Then the two were off to the grocery.

They got to the grocery, got a cart and went straight to the meat area.

"Ilang kilo? Mga 3?" Rj asked Maine who's starting to ease up.

"Grabe naman yung 3 kilo. 1 1/2 kilo lang. Tayo lang naman nila Mama saka si Ate Tine." She said.

"Eh pag umuwi pa sila Papa at tsaka si Kuya at si Riza?"

"Ang oa pa din ng 3 kilo. 2 kilo. Okay na yon."

So Rj got 2 kilos of fresh chicken and then asked Maine what else they needed. Maine was telling him about what Mama usually uses when Rj interrupted her.

"Ikutin natin tong grocery." Rj suggested while they were searching for the other ingredients that mama needs.

"Siraulo. Matatagalan tayo non eh." She pulled the end of the grocery cart so that Rj would start pushing.

"Hindi yan. Ikutin natin habang hinahanap natin yung mga kailangan niyong rekado." Then Rj started speeding off to the end of the aisle, leaving Maine who was looking for ingredients for the butterscotch.
