Some Nights - Chapter Three

I have now been in Konoha for a few weeks. It is a very nice little village, I do have to admit. It has a warm and welcoming presence, which surprises me the most. I have noticed that ANBU Black Ops have been following me around for the past few weeks. It must have something to do with the Hokage keeping an eye on me. After all, I did appear out of nowhere.

I will admit that I despise the Academy. Some of the kids that I have to be with through eight entire hours are really a handful. I am even more surprised that all of the girls in the class fangirl over the emo boy. I mean, can they atleast fangirl over someone who actually speaks? And if you think I mean Naruto, no. Naruto speaks a little... okay, too much. He still is the only person I will talk to. All of the girls in the Academy spend fifty percent of their time drooling over the emo boy and the other fifty yelling at each other. I still have trouble finding out what is so "cool" about the emo boy.

My black combat boots make no noise against the pavement I'm currently walking on. Roaming the streets of Konoha actually aren't as bad as I assumed they would be. It's really nice to see a family or a couple kids every once in a while. Not too often though. I pull down the sleeves of my hoodie just so they cover my hands, which are currently hanging limp next to my moving body. It didn't matter that it was turning into spring and the sun was shining, I refuse to take off my black hoodie until summer time. I am not the kind of person who will wear something to attract attention to myself.

As I continue to walk up the road, my mind begins to take a seperate course and lead me into my thoughts. I have easily concluded that Naruto is not popular amongst any of his age group. Many of the kids avoid little Naruto like the plague. It confuses me why the blonde kid is being made fun of. He is clearly social, so there is no possible way that it could be him being anti-social. He is not awful looking, he definetly takes after his father. So what could the problem be?

"Hey, look guys! It's Naru-dork!" A brown haired boy pointed his finger towards the blonde boy next to me. A couple kids around him started to laugh, while the others whispered to one another.

Naruto let out a small sigh and kept trudging down the road. His face was full of sorrow, loneliness reflected in his eyes. I put a hand on his shoulder comfortingly, helping him go along. He just nodded in appreciation and we walked together back towards our houses.

I sigh, wondering if they had something against Naruto's personality. I mean, he can be annoying sometimes, but the blonde is not mean or perverted. He is an alright kid after all. I have a feeling in my gut that it will not be the first time I will have to protect him. He has been here for me all of this time, so I guess that I will do the same.

Speaking of the blonde, Naruto is also roaming the streets. His eyes scan the area and focus on my form, causing a goofy grin to cover his face. I prepare myself for a loud awakening, which is the calling of my own name.

"MAY-CHAN!" An excited yell sounds abruptly from my right as I'm pulled into a hug. Naruto grins goofily, causing a lot of attention, which I despise greatly. I begin to struggle helplessly, but his grip on me is too strong.

"Naru-kun, let go of me. You know you are causing a lot of attention right now." I sigh in defeat, letting Naruto hug me.

He lets go, his saphire eyes sparkling. "It's great to see you out here May-chan! I was just going to talk to Iruka-sensei about the graduation exam! Want to come?"

I grumble softly. "Fine, only because you are my friend Naru-kun."

"Then.. WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?!" Naruto exclaims loudly, grabbing my arm and running off towards the academy.

I mentally facepalm as I'm literally dragged by my own arm towards the place I despise. I should be writing the sob-story of my life, not being taken against my own will. Sometimes you have to appreciate walking when you're taken by force.

"We're finally here May-chan!" Naruto grins goofily and places me down. I stagger slightly and almost fall over. Naruto easily stabilizes me with one hand on my shoulder. "Are you alright May-chan?"

"Just peachy." I grumble, finding the ground a lot easier to walk on now. "Let's go so I can get out of this place."

We walk together through the doors and into the classroom. Iruka is sitting at his desk.. sleeping. I begin to crack up with laughter at the puddle of drool on his desk next to his face. Without Naruto knowing, I perform a silent justu that captures the image and stores it into a mind bubble. I will explain it later, this moment is just too funny.

"Psst.. Iruka-sensei!" Naruto whisper-yells from across the room. To his surprise, Iruka actually doesn't wake up. "PSST. IRUKA-SENEI?!"

Iruka jolts awake and falls out of his chair. Naruto and I exchange glances and burst out laughing. Naruto is rolling on the ground laughing while I am laughing so hard, my stomach aches. Iruka heaves himself up into his chair, mumbling something about kids.

"What on EARTH do you want Naruto?!" Iruka exclaims frustratedly, shooting the blonde a pointed look.

"Well I was GOING to ask you about the graduation exam, but now I should ask you: did that awakening hurt as much as we laughed?" Naruto continues laughing, but I merely facepalm at his remark.

"Well. I'm surprised actually. So you want to know about the graduation exam?" Naruto nods his head up and down eagerly. "Know all of your jutsus. That is all I can tell you for now. You'll see in a week."

I nearly freeze in my spot. I have totally forgotten that the graduation exam is in a week. Then I realize that I am more advanced than all of my little classmates. I shrug at Iruka, patting Naruto on the back.

"You know Iruka, this boy contains more talent than you think. Just give him a chance. As for me, I don't need to worry about your little 'graduation exams'." I smirk, watching Iruka animefall at the lack of being called a sensei.

"Yeah! Don't underestimate the next Hokage! BELIEVE IT!" Naruto yells, throwing his fist in the air. I shove Naruto, shooting daggers at him with my eyes.

"Alright then. Until then, Naruto and Amaya!" Iruka waves us out of the Academy, and Naruto and I walk off towards our houses.
