Some Nights - Chapter Eleven

Kakashi quickly vanishes, leaving my teammates and me alone at the wooden posts. Noticing that my teammates were stunned, I let out a breath and hop onto the ground. My movements seem to startle my teammates; Naruto and Sakura's heads quickly turned in the direction of my movement. Sasuke slowly sits up, looking absolutely thrilled; note my sarcasm.

"There are three bento boxes for Duck-butt, Pinky and I. Sorry Naru-kun, there isn't one for you." I pick up the three bento lunch boxes, giving one to everyone but Naruto.

I watch as Sasuke and Sakura slowly eat their lunches, keeping an eye out for Kakashi. My teammates seem extremely scared and cautious, glancing all over the clearing for signs of movement. On the other hand, I glance up at Naruto. Soft growls escape from Naruto's stomach, causing him to blush slightly.

"I'll be fine, believe it!" Naruto cheerfully exclaims, trying to silence his prominent hunger.

I watch Sakura and Sasuke's facial expressions very closely. Sakura seems to be highly distraught listening to Naruto's stomach growl loudly. She still believes that she cannot help Naruto due to Kakashi's orders. Sasuke seems to be debating with himself, trying to decide if Kakashi wanted us to feed Naruto or to listen to his instructions.

"Here." Sasuke offers his bento box to Naruto, turning his head to the side. "You won't be much use if you're hungry."

"WHAT?!" Sakura whisper yells, panicking. "Kakashi-sensei said NOT to give Naruto food!"

"Kakashi also said that we need to work as a team, but I may be the only one that listens." I mumble, picking up a rice ball for Naruto.

Sakura seems very distressed that Sasuke and I offered our lunches to Naruto. She kneels down in front of Naruto, shoving her bento lunch box at the starving boy. Naruto glances around, tears welling up in his eyes. A small, foxy grin spreads across my best friend's face, clearly appreciating the offerings that we have given him.

"Thank you all..." Naruto sniffs, blushing slightly. "I can't use my hands.. Sakura-chan, could you feed me?"

I roll my eyes as the pinkette hesitantly offers Naruto some of her lunch. Naruto opens up his mouth, ready to be fed by Sakura. Suddenly, the sky is filled with storm clouds, freaking out my team. Kakashi appears before all of us with a menacing look on his face, the flashes of lightning sharpening his features.

"YOU...!" Kakashi begins to yell, watching the rest of my team shake in fear. ".. Pass!"

In an instant, the storm clouds are gone and the sky returns to it's normal cheery blue. Kakashi sends us all a one-eyed smile, a sweet aura radiating from him. Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke hesitate for a moment, realizing that Kakashi did not kill them. Sasuke seems unamused, returning to his silent self. Sakura blinks a few times, a small smile forming on her face. Naruto seems more than ecstatic, a large grin covering his face.

As I walk back into the village, my eyes softly gaze upon the lavender blue sky. I watch as one bird swoops down from the Hokage Monument, spreading its vast wings. Soon after, another small bird joins along its flank; it isn't long until there appears to be a whole flock. Stopping in my tracks, I stare at the marvelous occurrence unfolding before my eyes. Thousands of different colored feathers fill the sky as onlookers watch in awe. A soft smile spreads across my face, unable to contain my happiness and surprise.

Something bumps into me, immediately wrecking my calm mood. I feel myself falling backwards, preparing to fall flat on my ass. Suddenly, two arms catch me, pulling me towards a black hoodie. My face is greeted with soft fur, absolutely stunning my senses. I find myself trapped in a situation: the person held their arms tightly around me, caging my face in the fur. Great, death by suffocation.
