On the eastern continent of the vast Ninja World, near the shores of the ocean, in the Land of Dark Forests, in snowy mountains, there was a beautiful wooden village located in a valley of fir forests - The Village Hidden in the Fir.
A lot of legends had passed down the generations about this mysterious village - as if thirty-four years ago it got completely destroyed and burned down, and all of its villagers had been annihilated, by a vicious blackened man Akuno Hei. However, over fifteen years ago, Akuno Hei was brought down by the descendants of destroyed Hidden Fir Village leaders, the only survivors of the catastrophe - the legendary Shin-Lin siblings, and the Village Hidden in the Fir was newly rebuilt by these Shin-Lin siblings on its previous place in the east.
Since then, some of the eastern people who had nowhere to go, entered the village, and, obtaining the Shin-Lin siblings' permission, settled in there. Also, some distant relatives of the annihilated clans also came there, and, in honour of their lost comrades, started living there, determined to revive the village life.
And so, after these thirty-four years, the village became full of life and joy again. Its protectors - the lords and ladies of the village, the Shin-Lin clan members, were always there in time of difficulties. The eldest among the Shin-Lin siblings, Lady Lao Shin, whom they called Diyuma Lady, according to her bond with the Sacred Spirit, Hell Horse called Diyuma, was the main ruler of the village, and nothing would come to action without her permission. Everyone in the village respected this loving and caring woman, who never turned her back on others. Her siblings loved and respected her the most, as she was the one who had raised them after the destruction of their previous village in their childhood.
Most of these Shin-Lin siblings were married - Lady Tao Shin, the mistress of wood style, green-robed young lady with long black hair tied in a pony-tail, half of her hair left untied and dropped down, and two long and wispy bangs which were framing her face from both sides, had a beautiful daughter of fourteen years - Hana, skilled in wood style, just like her mother, and the inventor of flower style.
Lady Gao Shin, the mistress of fire style, one year younger than her sister Tao, the red-robed valiant lady with pitch black hair tied in a long lower tail, and two wispy bangs, had a fourteen years old son, Kaen, who was skilled in fire style just like his mother, and also in swordsmanship, carrying the Fir Village style huge sword with curves and fractals, resembling a fir-tree by its shape.
Lord Chao Lin, the master of water style, youngest of the siblings, the dark blue-robed strict man with pitch black long spiky hair tied in multiple tresses here and there, as well as main lower tail, and his bang covering his right eye, had two children - thirteen years old son, Shusui, skilled in five nature combination of the ancient Shin clan - the Blood Release, and eight years old daughter, Nami, a lovely little girl, skilled in water style.
Lady Dao Shin, Lord Chao's younger twin, pitch black long-haired, two wispy-banged, fringed, light blue-robed mistress of water style, who was married with Akuno Hei's only son, the blind shinobi with keen mind, Kokujin, had a fifteen years old son, Mekano, master of lightning style and genjutsu. He was a very sullen and strict boy, and also, really frightening - in his young years he had suffered a lot of defects in time of birth and in time of growth, so now he had replaced his right eye with a mechanical all-seeing red eye, and three of his limbs - his right hand up to his elbow, and his legs up to his knees were of mechanical metal, allowing him to manipulate lightning more easily and freely. However, he was often regarded by other children of the village as a weird one, so he wasn't really the welcoming type. Only his cousins respected him and loved him, no matter his gloominess.
Three of the eight siblings - two eldest brothers, Shao Lin and Nao Lin, and their younger sister, Mao Shin, who was only older than the twins, had no children for various reasons. First reason was that none of them were married. Shao Lin was the master of dark arts, Yin Release, and genjutsu, holding Black Spirit part within himself, which made him fruitless, so he could never have any children and thus he didn't bother to marry. He was still a cheerful guy, no matter this misfortune, and spent most of his time with his beloved nephews and nieces. He was the sensei of Mekano, Dao Shin's and Kokujin Lin's (earlier he was known as Kokujin Hei, before marrying Dao) son, and had taught him various jutsu of Yin Release, genjutsu and dark arts. This right hand-man of the Village Elder was always dressed in black robes, and had a pitch black long spiky hair, with two thick strands risen up on both sides, resembling devilish horns, and six tresses dropping down on his back, as well as two long bangs tied in tresses, framing his face from both sides. He had put black shades with an eye pencil around his light blue eyes, saying this was a spiritual symbol of his. He had also painted three black lines on each of his cheeks as another symbol. He always had his nails painted in black.
Lord Nao Lin, Shao's one year younger brother, was the most monstrous of them all - he had lost his head in his childhood, when Akuno Hei destroyed their previous village, and his human head was replaced with a brown eagle head by Lao Shin in order to revive him. He had sharp yellow eyes and was known as the Eagle Sage and eagle whisperer. He always wore grey robes, a samurai hat and a grey voile to hide his face, and wielded a giant Fir Village style sword just like Gao Shin's son Kaen. In fact, it was he who taught Kaen swordsmanship and trained him in it. He was Kaen's beloved sensei.
Lady Mao Shin was the strangest among all siblings - she was a beautiful woman dressed in orange robes, having pitch black long hair, parts of which were tied in long twin tails. She was very kind and warm, but she wielded a special jutsu allowing her to call the dead from the afterlife and even form a contract with them. She could sometimes hear their voices and chat with them via mind. This weird jutsu made her feared by the villagers, so she never got to be liked by any man. Although it saddened her sometimes, she was still often in a cheerful mood.
But Lady Lao Shin, the eldest among the siblings, and the Village Elder, the Diyuma wielder, was the most mysterious - this beautiful woman with long fire-coloured hair, part of which was tied in a pony-tail, and the right bang of which was covering and hiding her right eye, had a fifteen years old daughter, Shamo, who resembled her a lot - she had a long hair too, which was tied in a pony-tail just like her mother's, her right eye covered as well, however, her hair was dark red, unlike her mother's, and her eyes had black rings around them, and themselves were colourless green mixed with faint light blue... Nobody knew where she had gotten these strange colours from, as no one ever knew who her father was...
(Lao Shin's daughter, Shamo Shin)
Yes, although Lady Lao Shin had a teen daughter, she had actually never been married, and she never talked about her daughter's father. Even her daughter didn't know who her father was. Her cousins didn't have a clue either, and their parents, Lao's siblings, didn't talk about it either.
However, little Shamo could always notice the mysterious white orchid in a vase on the window-sill in mother's room, and a wonderful sand gourd with orchid and rose depicted on it hung on mother's thigh which she never took off unless she was going to bed or in the shower. She was really interested in these two items - how come mother had gotten that sand gourd? She never knew if there were any sand style users in the east... and how come that white orchid of hers never dried out? It clearly had her chakra within it... But why did she infuse her chakra in it?
These questions weren't leaving her in peace, but she never dared to ask about them - she awed to talk to her mother about these items, though she didn't really know why...
But young Shamo Shin wanted to find answers to her questions, and always wondered who her mysterious father was, and as she grew, her curiosity intensified...
