It was nearly night time. Shamo and Nami noticed that Hana still hadn't returned.
"Nami, Have you seen Hana? Hasn't she returned?" Shamo asked her little cousin with a concerned face.
"No, Shamo," Nami answered with worry too, "Maybe boys have seen her?"
"Yeah, got to ask them," Shamo leaped up.
She and Nami concernedly knocked on the boys' room's door.
Mekano pulled the door open and glanced at them. It could easily be noticed that he was thoughtful as well.
"Hey girls," he greeted his cousins, "Come in. Has Hana returned?" he directly asked.
"No! So you haven't seen her either?" Shamo got frightened, and she and Nami stepped into the boys' room. Mekano closed the door. All of the boys, including Kaen and Shusui - were thoughtful and nervous.
"She hasn't appeared since she went out sightseeing in the afternoon!" Kaen exclaimed, "I don't understand! She would always return home early back in our village... And in this stranger village she surely wouldn't stay out so late!"
"Oh, god, what happened to her?!" Shamo quivered in fright and worry.
"I don't like this..." Shusui puckered, "This is not like Hana at all. We must go search for her".
"I agree. She's definitely in trouble, as it seems at this rate," Mekano frowned as well.
"Oh, god, not only that!" Shamo put head in her hands, panicking, "Why did I let her go alone?! It is all my fault! What would we do?!" she was stressfully walking up and down.
"Calm down, Shamo. We will find her. Let's go," Mekano puckered and clenched his metal fist, "We all are responsible. It's not only your fault".
"We must go immediately!" Shamo cried out, and pulled the door open.
The cousins hanged ninja tool bags on their thighs, prepared themselves (Kaen girt his Mominoki sword of fir-tree like shape on his back) and set out.
They followed the streets.
"How can we find her? Where do you think she could go?" Shamo was worried.
"Don't be scared. I can track her with the technique my father and Uncle Shao helped me to develop," Mekano calmly answered.
"Oh, yeah, you're a sensory type!" Shamo brightened, "Thank goodness..." she sighed in relief.
Mekano slightly smirked and wove signs.
"Dark Arts: Magnified Senses!" and he concentrated, closing eyes.
Everyone was silently and breathlessly watching him, eagerly waiting for his report.
He finally opened eyes, and his frown deepened.
"I cannot feel her within my sensory range..." he uttered, "She is not in this village anymore..."
"What?!" the cousins widened eyes in shock.
"How can that be?!" Shamo now got really scared, "Where is she? What happened to her?! Oh my, what have I done!" she almost burst into tears from worry.
"Calm yourself, we can still find her," Mekano crossed his arms, "I will use another technique. It belonged to my father once".
"Do it please! We must do whatever we can!" Shamo cried.
Mekano wove other signs now, and shouted:
"Dark Style: Sensory Tracking Technique!"
And he closed eyes again, completely diving into his senses...
The cousins stared at him nervously.
"Oh, I hope Hana is okay..." Nami mumbled, cuddling with her big brother.
"Shh... Don't worry... We will find her," Shusui caressed her, his heart beating as well.
Mekano soon opened eyes again.
"I sensed her energy tracks. She was in a sushi restaurant in the evening, and then wanted to come back to the hotel, but there she dispersed too much of her energy... apparently she was struggling against someone. Then her conscious mind's energy turned off, as if she blacked out... She was taken out of the village. My senses can track her leaving the Land of Lightning. She was moving towards the south-west".
"Struggling against someone?! Left the land?!" Shamo was shocked, "Oh no! We must quickly go after her! She's in trouble! Ugh how foolish I am! I should have followed her on sightseeing, I shouldn't have left her alone!" she felt extremely guilty and tear appeared in her eye. "I'm an awful cousin!"
"Okay, be calm, we will go for her," Kaen puckered, being worried himself, "Let's go!"
"Yeah!"
The cousins ran back to their hotel. Kaen, Shusui and Mekano packed their backpacks and all of the children ran off to the train station.
They took the train towards the Land of Fire, knowing that it was located to the south-west from the Land of Lightning, and the further south-westward they would go, the better Mekano would get the grasp of Hana's energy tracks.
Soon the children had already got onto the train and were leaving the Land of Lightning.
Mekano was casting his technique all that time in the train, trying to sense Hana's energy trace.
When they were midway, Mekano opened his eyes and declared:
"We're on the right path. Hana's energy trace can be felt in the Land of Fire. It mostly goes straight, and still continues south-westward.
"South-westward again?" Kaen raised eyebrow, "Does it stand in the Hidden Leaf Village?"
"No," Mekano frowned, "It maximally avoids it..." he fell in his thoughts, and then quietly declared: "I suspect she was kidnapped by rogue ninjas, and that is why her kidnappers try to avoid allied ninja villages..."
"It does seem logic..." Shusui frowned as well, "But in that case, we will have big problems to deal with..."
"Aw, what kind of problems, big brother?" Nami got worried.
"Don't worry Nami, whatever stands on our way, we'll smash it and get through!" Shamo angrily hit her fist on the table, "Those rogue ninjas will soon regret when they find out who they're dealing with! We will get Hana back!"
"You said it Shamo!" Kaen grinned.
Meanwhile, right behind the Shin-Lin cousins' compartment, there was another cabin occupied by six people - three women and three children of the same age as Shusui.
The two of the children were boys. One was a fattened girl with lovely red hair and dark skin.
The boys were eagerly playing on their game devices.
"Well then, next stay will be Leaf Village," said one of the women - a tall one, with short blond hair tied in twin buns, and attractive green eyes. She carried a giant fan. "You guys are lucky... I will have to travel one more day till I reach my destination..."
"Hey, rejoice Temari, it will not be too far... The train for Hidden Sand leaves soon after we reach Leaf Village," her companion, a beautiful woman with long blond hair, beamed.
"Yeah. At least that's a relief," Temari annoyedly sighed.
In Shin-Lin Cousins' compartment, Shamo was nervously fidgeting on her bed, worrying about Hana, her dearest cousin... Alas, she didn't yet know that there, behind the wall she was staring at, there was her paternal aunt, Temari Nara, sleeping, and her paternal cousin, Temari's son, Shikadai, was playing his game on his tiny computer...
