People were gathered in an immense hall. Western shinobi were together with the eastern ninjas. Everyone seemed rejoiced and excited. Even the second floor balcony was completely occupied.
"And now, the princess of the Hidden Fir, Shamo Shin, will perform her Sacred Dance with the young lord of the Hidden Fir, Mekano Lin of the Hei!" cried the commentator from the second floor.
The people whooped and clapped.
Gaara, his siblings and Shinki, as well as Leaf jonin and their children, were standing on the second floor together with the eastern elite shinobi. They carefully watched the center of the hall, where soon Shamo and Mekano, dressed in traditional festive clothes, walked out and started dancing along the music.
Gaara smiled seeing his daughter so happy and mature... He could recognize his sweetheart in Shamo - she resembled Lao Shin so much...
And there he obliquely looked aside and noticed Lao, watching Shamo below, having a bitter smile. Gaara's heart sank seeing this sadness of hers.
She surely is sad she didn't get to dance like this... He thought.
"Big sis is so beautiful!" Nami exclaimed, her eyes being amazed.
"Yeah... Hey, Kaen, today let us dance too, huh?" Hana grinned to Kaen.
Hearing this, Kaen widened eyes and abashed.
"Um... okay..." he scratched his head.
Shusui chuckled, crossing arms.
"I want to dance too!" Nami got sad.
"Oh, there there Nami, I will dance with you darling," Shusui beamed to her.
Nami widened eyes with joy.
"Oh, thank you so much big brother!" she hugged Shusui's leg.
Shusui giggled.
"Eh, dancing is so good..." Mao Shin murmured, sighing, smiling bitterly.
"Hey, don't get sad, Mao, we can dance together when the party starts, okay?" Shao Lin smiled to his dearest younger sister.
"Oh, you're so kind, Shao!" Mao hugged him.
And meanwhile, Shamo and Mekano were selflessly dancing, both of them being delighted... After all, performing this dance meant that they were already considered grown-ups...
And also, they were happy to dance together, because they had affections towards each other...
They loved each other...
Gaara, looking at the young couple, sighed, and glanced at Lao again...
They were practically as young as Shamo and Mekano, when they first fell in love... Slightly older, yes, but still very young...
Seeing Shamo's happiness and joy, he could imagine how sad and sorrowful Lao would be for the lack of her dance... And without this dance, he knew that she was considered unmarried... And that didn't make Shamo a legitimate child... Because of this, Lao at first did have some problems...
Gaara sighed, clutching the hand-rails of the balcony. He felt bitter. He didn't want his sweetheart to suffer this way.
Soon the dance ended, and the whole crowd clapped. Gaara applauded as well, being proud of his daughter, and then, he quickly slipped through the Fir ninjas and appeared next to Lao, whispering something in her ear.
Lao widened eyes in shock, and grew red. She looked up at Gaara, her eyes showing extreme stupefaction, and happiness.
She was elated.
