Sigyn sighed as she wiped the windows. The palace was so lonely and boring without Loki. He had been gone for the past month, going off on a campaign with Thor and their father. He vaguely told her that they were visiting other planets for diplomatic reasons, and she decided not to question him. Frigga only remained, attending to daily tasks that left her busy all day without a single moment to spare. Sigyn missed Loki tremendously, thinking of him every second of every day. She never thought that he would consume her mind that much. He really did have a crazy affect on her.
Frigga always glared at her as she worked on her tasks, and that made her very uneasy. Especially with everyone gone, Frigga always paid special attention to her, scolding her for the littlest things. She had no idea what she did to deserve this scrutiny. She always did her chores correctly and efficiently, never taking unnecessary breaks or rushing through. There was no use to tell Loki about it, for it would only bring more worry to his mind and make him very upset. She never wanted to bring that kind of harm to him.
Every night while she tried to sleep, she thought of him. She would snuggle with the fur blanket he had given her and close her eyes, imagining Loki's figure beside her. It was still unbelievable that he ordered fur blankets for her and the other servants. When she first told him and he promised, she never thought he actually do it. Maybe Loki really did care about her. She thought so every time she buried her face in her blanket. It even contained the faint smell of Loki, and it comforted her. She wished Loki could shape-shift into that black cat again, so she could spend time with him. Alas, he was too far away, and she knew that now her mother would drive him out with a broom. Sigyn had no idea how her mother found out about the black cat, but she had to promise not to let him in the servants' quarters again. Thankfully, her mother did not know the cat's true identity, or she would be completely furious.
Loki's quarters felt so empty without him there. Whenever she finished she did not know what to do next. Frigga had a habit of popping around every once in a while to make sure Sigyn was doing her job, so she did not want to be reading when Frigga came by. She did not wish to know the consequences of that deathly discovery. That was why Sigyn had to be very careful around Loki's bedroom. She was not used to it, but she had to in order to maintain whatever relationship she had with Loki. Since that night long ago they hadn't kissed, and since that following night they hadn't been that close. They basically worked more on reestablishing the broken bond they formed during the past year or so, back when they were comfortable chatting with one another. Now there was that slight sexual tension she felt, but there was nothing they could do to address it. They just did their best to ignore it, even though it was very difficult to.
One morning, when she heard the news that Loki, Thor and Odin were returning home later in the evening, she could not contain her joy. She hummed that song he sang with her long ago as she worked on the bedrooms. It was nearly impossible for her to hide her happiness in front of Frigga, who was also excited to have them home. Frigga would have an even bigger clue to what was going on between her and Loki, but at the moment, Sigyn did not care. She was just happy to have Loki returning home. Surprisingly, she worked quicker than she expected, so she spent the rest of the time cleaning up Loki's room even more. There wasn't much to clean afterwards, so she just arranged stuff to pass the time. While she worked, she wondered if Loki thought of her too. It would be incredibly embarrassing if Loki did not miss her one bit, though she kind of doubted that. It actually seemed like Loki cared about her more than that. She never thought he could, but it seemed like he did. Loki was a very complicated fellow.
She was busy arranging his books in alphabetical order when she heard familiar footsteps behind her. Excitedly, she turned around, grinning back at Loki's figure. She squealed as she ran up to hug him, throwing her arms around his neck. At the moment, she did not even care that she had never hugged him before. She was just so happy to see him after a month. "Hello, Sigyn," he chuckled, his arms wrapping around her waist. "You seem glad to see me."
