Married life was very strange for Loki. Even though he was already used to seeing Sigyn all the time, they saw each other in a different way. Right before his very eyes he watched Sigyn change into a dignified princess, and was surprised at the results unfolding before him. Frigga spent most of her days teaching things to Sigyn, and as time went on, she became less confused to the customs of royal life. She was not lost anymore. The transformation shocked Loki, and he was not too sure that he liked this gradual change. Sigyn still did look at him in the same way, but there was always something in her eyes that felt different. He never expected married life to turn Sigyn into a different kind of person. Now that he knew, he wasn't sure that his decision to marry her was right.

It took him a lot of effort to gain back her trust in him. His angry, drunken moment with another royal the night of their wedding had really frightened her. He never wanted to do that to her. All he was doing was protecting her budding reputation in the world. That man had said terrible, awful things about her, and he wanted to defend her. She did not deserve to be associated with anything that disgusting man said. After a small argument between the two of them, Loki reluctantly told Sigyn what the man had that night uttered, and her face paled. He could see that she never expected someone that say those dreadful things about her either. Sigyn stonily hugged Loki, her mind whirling as she processed the man's insults.

"Do you understand, Sigyn?" he whispered. "I just do not want people saying those things about you. Nobody insults my wife."

Sigyn smiled in his chest and nodded. Things began to look up between the both of them, since they had cleared the air about that situation. Loki could see the love and trust begin to appear again in her eyes, and he was relieved. It would have been completely terrible for their relationship if she never trusted him anymore. Deep down inside, Loki knew that Sigyn was still a little uneasy about him. No matter what Loki ever told her and how sincere he sounded, she still believed he had a tendency to lie and mischievously shape shift into someone else. It was something Loki could not change her mind about, and sometimes it angered him. He thought that Sigyn should be able to trust him, since they were married now. Marriage was all about love and trust, and if Sigyn did not trust him, then how were they going to live together?

Loki noticed that Sigyn became more delicate and ladylike as the months went on. She adjusted to the royal world really well, and often accompanied Loki on his various Planet Visits. Her trembling hands would never leave his, but she managed to talk and laugh along with the respective royals. Loki was still amazed at the dignified air she carried herself with. Frigga had taught her well. He was glad Frigga slowly became accustomed to Sigyn, and eventually, she enjoyed her new daughter's company. Loki knew that his mother felt honored to teach Sigyn the way of the royals. Frigga loved to teach, and she definitely loved being a role model for someone. Frigga only smirked when Loki slyly brought this up, saying that his marriage was going up his head. Loki just grinned and kissed the top of his mother's head.

Now that Sigyn was a princess, she was incredibly bored with nothing else to do. She convinced Odin to start a bunch of humanitarian organizations for the citizens of Asgard, and she headed them all. Loki was a little disgusted by her strong desire to help the peasants, but she reminded him that he had helped her when she was one herself. If she got opportunities, she argued, then others should be able to have the same. Odin was fairly impressed by her efforts. They officially revealed her true past in order to bring more favor for her programs, and everyone began to love her. Loki observed as all the peasants adored and admired her. He knew that they were all surprised that Loki's wife was so kind and polite, and it hurt him a bit. Just because he was known as a quiet, mischievous troublemaker didn't mean that she had to be labeled as one.

Sigyn's beautiful image spread across Asgard, and the peasants showered her with flowers whenever she went to visit them. She always made it a point to go around town and make sure her welfare programs were properly enacted. Every once in a while Loki accompanied her, but the peasants were more interested in her than him. Loki did not mind, and Sigyn was shocked and proud at him. He just sheepishly smiled at her and said that she deserved all the attention in the universe. He truly believed that she should receive all the love and care in the world, mostly because of her rough life. After everything she went through, she needed a life of relaxation and love. And Loki and these programs were a great start.

She almost received more fame and attention than the other royals. Loki knew that he should be jealous of her fame, but he could not find the energy to. She was his wife, the wife that he worked so hard to have. If this was what became of her, then he had to accept it. Frigga and Thor, on the other hand, did not always approve of her new found fame. There was nothing they could do to stop the involved, headstrong Sigyn from helping unfortunate others. Loki grimaced whenever he noticed the distaste in their expressions. They were just so used to being the center of attention that it was difficult to share it with a former servant girl. Odin fared well with her burgeoning fame. Maybe it was because he was already a historical icon in Asgard. No one would think of Sigyn more than Odin. He was king, the supreme being in all of Asgard. Even though she was making her mark, she did not compare to Loki's father.

Loki could not help but smile when he watched her act so caring towards the townspeople. The children crowded around her whenever she passed by, and she giggled in delight as they gave her cute gifts and asked her to play with them. Mothers would grin in awe because of Sigyn's sweet nature. She had such a way with children. When she was with them, Loki thought of her with different children, their children. He knew that she would be the most incredible mother in all of Asgard, except for his own mother of course. She was so loving and gentle with these children and they weren't even hers.

Sometimes, he could feel the enormous pressure on him and Sigyn to have a child, an heir to the throne. Odin and Frigga never mentioned it, but Loki knew that the expectation was always there. Loki did not see a point in having a child and heir to the throne, for Thor was next in line and he was not. Sigyn could feel the amounting pressure as well, and made it perfectly clear to Loki that she was not ready to have a child just yet. She wanted to be alone with Loki for at least a few years before giving birth, and childbirth was not something that she desired. She loved children, but was not entirely ready to have children of her own.

"All of the peasant children are our children," she smiled at Loki.

"You sound like a delusional ruler," Loki scoffed.

"No," she frowned. "I sound like a princess who really cares."

"Did Mother tell you that?"

"Just because you don't care doesn't mean that I should too. I'm not doing anything by sitting and reading all day. It is boring and unproductive."

"Okay, Sigyn," he sighed. A little part of his heart was angry at what she said, since it was all what he mostly spent his days doing, but he was not going to let that small thing rule him. She was right in a way, and he was in no mood to argue with her. "I'm sorry."

"I should hope so," she smiled, leaning forward to softly kiss him. "You do not want to make your wife mad, right?" Her fingers gently caressed his stomach, immediately distracting him from their conversation. Her touch was so gentle, so teasing and it made life's troubles so insignificant.

"I suppose so..." Loki quietly breathed, biting his lip. Sigyn chuckled and kissed him again, officially ending the conversation between them.

Loki tried to never mention the possibility of children to Sigyn. He did not want to force her to do anything she was totally uncomfortable with. Once they stopped talking about it, Loki could feel the pressure slowly slip away. Even though it had been almost a year since they married, he still felt like they were newlyweds. It wasn't like they barely spent time with one another. It was more like he hadn't grown tired of her yet. He did not know when that day would come, or if that day would come. He was still very much in love with her, and nothing in the universe was going to change that.
