Sigyn was in complete shambles as she finished the guest quarters. She wanted nothing more than to stop and cry in the corner, but she had to work. She hated being a servant and being subject to the royals' fancy. She was foolish, simply foolish, to think that Loki was different. He was just another one of those royals who loved to fool around with those of lesser power. He did not have any feelings for her or regard her as different. Sigyn had been blind for so long, and she loathed herself for falling prey to his charming ways. He did not see her as anything of importance, just as another servant to play games with. Well, she was not going to let him do that to her anymore. She was not going to speak to him at all, even when he spoke to her. She wished to have Loki's room taken off on her list of chores, but it was impossible. She would have to deal with him no matter what.
Sigyn grimaced as she cleaned Odin and Frigga's room. The king and queen of Asgard would not care a bit about Thor and Loki's horrible prank. They would banish her for even speaking about them in an ill manner. She had to deal with this herself. At least she could tell the black cat about this. He was her only comfort at the moment, fully replacing Loki as a trusted source. She was eager to finish her work so she could go down to see the cat. However, she had to keep on slaving in the palace until late at night. She was not even sure if she was going to clean Loki's room properly. Since he was a prince and she was a servant, he had the upper hand, and if he desired, he could fire her for her poor effort. That was something that she never wanted to happen, so she angrily told herself to go on as if nothing had ever happened between them.
When it time for her to clean Loki's quarters, she had an overwhelming urge to tear something up to show her discomfort. Instead, she dutifully polished the gold furniture and wiped the windows. To her relief, Loki was still at supper, and she hoped she could finish her work before he returned. Something told her that he would not rush through his supper today, and would spend as much time as possible ignoring her. Yet she had another feeling that he would strut in, a cocky grin plastered on his face as he tormented her. He knew she could not do anything against him, so he would get away with scaring her half to death. Loki always complained to her that Thor was annoyingly arrogant about his power and influence, but she realized that Loki was the same way. He had no guilty conscience when he messed with others, for he normally did not face harsh consequences for his actions. She hated it when people got away that easily. Everyone should be punished for all the terrible things they did; they should not be ignored just because they are powerful and rich.
She quickly climbed onto the ladder and dusted the top of his bed, trying to rush because he normally came back at this time. To her surprise, she was able to finish before he returned, and she contently pushed the ladder back under his bed. Of course, her small bit of happiness was ruined when Loki strode into his bedroom, his eyes avoiding Sigyn's figure. Sigyn dared not stare at him, for she knew if she did, she would go through a plethora of emotions. "Hello, Sigyn," he quietly said to her.
She did not answer him, sticking her chin up as she grabbed her cleaning supplies. "Hello, Loki." She made her way towards the door, done and ready to go. There was no way she could stay with Loki for another second without exploding in a fit of rage and tears.
"Oh...you finished already?" The disappointment in his voice echoed across the walls, and it broke her heart.
She craned her neck so that she could see him from the corner of her eyes. His sadness was etched on his face, his guilt consuming him. No, she could not fall for his depressed state. He was making it up, forcing her to forgive him too easily. She had to be strong and the only person in Asgard to resist his charm. She made the mistake of succumbing to it earlier, and she was determined to not make the same mistake again.
"It's amazing how much progress I make without us chatting away," she coldly answered, turning around and walking out the bedroom.
He called out her name, but she continued on without another word. She heard footsteps running towards her, so she briskly hurried on, making her way to the supply closet. The footsteps died away once she slammed the door. Shakily, she put the supplies away, hoping that the footsteps meant nothing. She could not believe she was able to fight Loki this way. This was all a terrible mistake. She should have never noticed him back when they were children. She should have never had a crush on him throughout her childhood. Her feelings for him ruined her entire life, and she was never going to get those wonderful moments back. They had made her job so much easier with each passing day, but she never knew of their price, of their consequence.
