Loki did stay with Sigyn and the children for another couple months. He really did not want to leave, though. Whenever he saw Sigyn hold their children in her arms, the mere thought of leaving them tore his heart apart. He loved his family, he really did. It was such a struggle to carry on with his plans. Countless times Loki reconsidered his original decision to leave them. Earth was only for fun, but his family was for life. Loki was never good at making such decisive decisions. Before he believed that Earth was a great way to redeem himself, but now he was having second doubts. Maybe his family was the best way to redeem himself.

However, Thor and Odin always stirred up those negative, power-hungry feelings inside of Loki. Thor especially acted very caring and sweet towards Sigyn, Vali, and Nari. It angered Loki so much whenever he saw it. He knew that Thor believed that since Loki was dead, Sigyn and the children were now his responsibilities. Loki hated that. He was perfectly capable of providing and looking after his own family. He did not need Thor to do anything for him.

At least his children knew who their real father was. Loki loved to talk to them whenever Sigyn was taking a bath or sleeping. He whispered to them tales of his life with and without Sigyn, and he told them the truths of what happened to him. Loki knew that Sigyn would tell them more when they grew up a bit more, but he wanted them to hear the stories from his own voice. Vali and Nari always looked up at Loki in amazement whenever they heard his voice. It was vastly deeper than their mother's flowery voice, and softer than their uncle's booming voice. And even though they did not understand why Loki changed into a kitten when the sun came up, they were fascinated with his soft fur and active movements. Sometimes when Sigyn fell asleep with them during their afternoon naps, Vali and Nari cuddled with the kitten.

Sigyn and Loki did have a sort of system going. Sigyn was usually awake for most of the day and Loki slept most of the time as a kitten, and Loki stayed awake during the middle of the night so Sigyn could sleep. Sigyn tried to spend as much time as possible with Loki and the children together, but some days she was just too exhausted. Loki would just kiss her and tell her not to worry, and she would just close her eyes and drift into slumber. He did not know how Sigyn would fare without him. Sigyn was indeed a strong woman; however, she could not necessarily handle two babies on her own.

Loki thought that it was simply wonderful to see his boys grow up. Granted, he only saw them for a couple months, but they changed so much during that time. Sigyn and Loki really did get to see their personalities and looks develop. So far, Sigyn believed that Vali acted a little mischievous like Loki did, while Nari was more quiet and observant. They seemed to posses a lot of Loki's personality. Loki argued that they always reminded him of Sigyn. He could already see Sigyn's reflective and loyal nature in Nari, while Vali held her rebellious and defiant nature. They knew things would change when they grew much older, but Sigyn actually hoped that they stayed the same.

"I swear," she laughed at Loki, "I feel that they will become a bickering problem, just like you and Thor were when you both were little."

Loki bitterly chuckled at the thought. He and Thor were such brothers when they were young. Things were much different now. Loki did not like to think about their changed relationship. Unlike Loki, Thor would still view Loki as his little brother. Loki knew to use that as an advantage. He had a feeling that he would use that advantage, but did not know when. It did not matter anyway. Things would happen when they happened. Loki could not stop two colliding forces of nature.

Once Loki announced that he was going to leave the next morning, Sigyn changed. She was silent and unhappy the entire day, barely even paying attention to her children. When Thor kindly suggested taking the children to give Sigyn a much needed break, she did not respond. Thor took this as a yes, but as soon as he touched Nari, she screamed at him to back away. As a kitten, Loki flinched at the sound of her shrill voice, and as babies, Vali and Nari started crying in shock. Loki hadn't heard her yell like that since she was in childbirth. Thor was taken aback when she growled at him to leave her alone, and was alarmed when she ignored her wailing children.
