6. Wedding

A few days later

Alex' pov

Tomorrow, I'm going to be Maggie's wife. Maggie, Kara, and I checked every detail. I'm ready to get married to the most beautiful angel in the world. Maggie and I had a conversation before going to bed.

"Can I ask you something, sweetie?" I said.

"Of course." Maggie answered.

"We'll be okay, right? I feel like there is going to be something tomorrow." I said.

"What do you mean?"

"I have the feeling that something will go wrong tomorrow."

"Don't worry, nothing is going to happen. We're going to get married in front of our family and friends. Tomorrow, I will call you my wife."

"You're right, I'm just hallucinating." I answered.

"I'm always right." she joked.

The big day

We were at the church, Maggie and I haven't seen each other because it is bad luck. Everyone was there: James, Mon-El, Winn, J'onn, Mom, Kara, Robert, and Dad. I was waiting for Dad, he came in with my bouquet.

"Are you ready, sweetie?" Dad asked.

"Yes, I'm ready." I replied.

"I know that you love Maggie, but I have to ask you this. You can always run if you want, I'll drive you somewhere if necessary."

"Dad! I love Maggie, I would never do that to her."

"I was just joking, honey. I know that you love her. Are you nervous?"

"No, I'm excited to get married to the most beautiful girl in the whole world."

"Here's your bouquet. I want you to know that I'm proud of you, everyone is proud of you."

"Thank you, Dad."

Music started playing, it was River flows in you. Kara and Mom had their dresses on, they looked beautiful. They walked to the altar. Maggie went afterwards, she walked towards the aisle with her father by her side. I couldn't see her face but I think she was crying a little bit. Then, it was my turn. I took my father's hand and started walking. I saw Maggie and she was breathtaking. Dad guided me to Maggie and gave me a kiss. He walked towards Mom.

"You're breathtaking." I whispered to Maggie.

"You're beautiful." she answered.

"Friends and family of the brides, welcome and thank you for being here on this important day. We are gathered together to celebrate the very special love between Maggie Sawyer and Alexandra Danvers, by joining them in marriage."

"Um... J'onn?" I said.

"Yes?" he replied.

"Can you please say Alex instead of Alexandra?" I asked.

"Of course, I continue with my speech. All of us need and desire to love and to be loved. And the highest form of love between two people is within a monogamous, committed relationship. Maggie and Alex, your marriage today is the public and legal joining of your souls that have already been united as one in your hearts. Marriage is going to expand you as individuals, define you as a couple, and deepen your love for one another. So, let your marriage be a time of waking each morning and falling in love with each other all over again. Time for the vows, Alex and Maggie wrote their vows themselves."

"I, Alex Danvers, take you, Maggie Sawyer to be my wife. We've been through so much together, it's been very hard for the both of us but I know one thing for certain. I never want to let you go again, you are my one true love. I promise to encourage and inspire you, to laugh with you, and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle. You are the most amazing and perfect woman I have ever known. You make me happier than I ever thought possible and I feel truly blessed that you have agreed to be my wife. I love you, Maggie Sawyer."

"I, Maggie Sawyer, take you, Alex Danvers to be my wife. I've been through a lot, and I never thought that I could love anyone that much. Then, you came into my life and I realized that I wanted to marry you someday. No matter what life may throw at us, I vow that I will never stop loving you, will never stop caring for you and will never stop trying to be the best wife that I can be. I promise to be a true and faithful partner, from this day forward, in all life's circumstances, as we face them together. I love you, Alex Danvers."

"Time for the rings. Do you, Alex Danvers, take her, Maggie Sawyer to be your wife?" J'onn asked.

"I do." I answered, while trying to hold back my tears.

"Do you, Maggie Sawyer, take her, Alex Danvers to be your wife?"

"I do." Maggie sobbed.

"I now pronounce you wife and wife, you may kiss."

I pulled Maggie closer, and gave her the most loving kiss ever. I looked around me and saw that Kara, Mom, Dad and Robert were crying. This is the most beautiful day ever!
