6 months later
Maggie's pov
It's been six months since Jeremiah's funeral and everything has been going quite okay. With Jeremiah's death, Alex and I felt we were separating a little from each other. But we promised that we would be there for one another. And now, our marriage is stronger than ever and we have been inseparable.
Tonight was date night, because it's been a few months since Alex and I went out. We were both very busy at the DEO and it's professional business for most of the time so I really thought we needed a night for the two of us. We dressed up nicely and left the apartment to go to Castillo. We were on our way over there when I see her, the woman who kicked me out of my own house. My mother, standing a few metres further, talking to someone. And I stood still.
"Hey, babe. We have to keep moving, we're already late." Alex said.
"No, we have to go back to the apartment." I replied with a shaking voice.
"What's wrong, sweetie?" she asked.
"Nothing, just turn around." I answered.
"But..."
It was too late, Mom already saw me and approached me.
"Hello, Maggie. Long time, no see."
"Hello, Mother. What are you doing here?" I replied.
"I'm here with my fiancé, we're paying a visit to some of his friends." and she pointed to the guy she was talking with.
"Seriously?! You left Dad for that guy..." I asked.
"Our marriage was a disaster, Maggie. And I'm finally free, I'm happy with Everett." she remarked. "And what are you doing here?"
"I live here, Mom."
"And who are you?" she asked Alex.
"I'm Alex Danvers. It's a pleasure to meet you." Alex answered.
"Nice to meet you, too. I'm Diane Clare. Are you a friend of Maggie?" she asked.
"No, Mom. Alex is my wife. We have been married since a few months." I replied.
"Ow... I thought you were joking about that lesbian- thing. I assumed it was just a phase. And you couldn't marry someone better?" Mom said.
"Excuse me?! I'm happy, Mom! Alex is the most amazing woman ever. She makes me happy."
"Why do you always make the wrong choices, Maggie Sawyer? That's not how I raised you. I was already disappointed in you when you told me that you were gay, and you disappoint me even more, now I see what kind of chick you have as your wife." she angrily said.
"Okay, I'm sorry but I can't handle this anymore. You don't even know HOW lucky you are to have Maggie as your daughter! She is wonderful and I can't think of one reason to hate her. Why do you have to be such a bitch?! I finally understand why Maggie didn't want me to meet her mother. You should be proud of her. She 's an amazing person." Alex replied with a stronger voice.
"Let's go, Maggie. Your mother isn't worth it." she said.
She gently grabbed my hand and we went back to the apartment. Alex ordered some take-out and we sat on the couch. I slowly started sobbing.
"What's wrong, baby?" Alex asked softly.
"I-I never had someone who stood up for me like that. My Dad never did it, because he was scared. You are the first person who was there for me."
"Why wouldn't I be? I love you and I don't want anyone to talk to you like that. Ever."
"It's nice to know that you are here for me."
"Always. Now, come here. Cry it out in my arms." and Alex held me tight in her arms.
