Chapter 10 Road Trip

" Hey Ashton?"

"Hmm?"

"You know the show catfish."

"Uh huh  where is this going?" Ashton asks glancing over at me. We're on our way up to Boulder and I'm trying to figure out how to tell him about Michael.  " Well I met a  guy on twitter and we've become good friends we started talking   in like December." Ashton glances over at me and looks unamused. " Is he who he says he is?" " We face timed last night and yes he's in New York and we're the same age and he's really cool, were hoping to meet this summer." " Have you told your mom about this?" " Not yet." " What do you think she will say?" " She may be for it or against it and tell  me to not talk to him anymore but I don't want that he's like my other best friend." "What about me?" Ashton laughs. " Your always my numero uno Irwin." I say he laughs. "This is a great start to spring break." He says. " Have you been accepted yet?" I ask  Ashton smiles. "Yep this is admitted student day that were going for I was going to tell you when I got there. " Yes  ASHTON I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!" I yell and awkwardly hug him before pulling away cause he's driving. " Ow my ear and thanks I'm so happy.  "That's awesome I bet your mom's proud."  " She  is trust  me, and she may be  at your house more since I'm gone." I laugh as we arrive on campus and park in one of the many lots. I get my sunglasses and get out waiting for Ashton to get his things before we walk around campus. " I'd love to come here." I say. " You will one day."  We go to the main building where we are said to meet at.   We walk around campus and get told when orientation is and I can see Ashton bubbling with excitement and I feel happy for him and also wondering how the hell I'm supposed to survive two more years of high school without him. "We have dorms for you  all to stay in so let's go this way." Our tour guide says. I text Michael as we head toward the dorms.

At Boulder and feelign sad that my best friend is leaving me ;(

I'm sorry did he get accepted?

Yes! I'm so happy for him this was his dream school too.

I told him about you  he sounded chill about it but he's chill about most things, now I have to tell my mom and sister eek

Thanks I'll need it.  Ashton and I get a dorm on the third floor and it's pretty nice." Next year this will be me all the time! Ashton says smiling widely his dimples visible. I laugh and poke one of his dimples making him giggle as he pushes up his glasses. "I graduate next month Calum that's.. crazy!"  " I know."  " I should go change." I say and get my sweats from the bag I brought before I go into the bathroom.

I decided to text my mom about me being friends with Michael rather than verbally telling her. I'm better at getting yelled at over text.

How's Boulder?

Fun Ash told me he got accepted

That's good and his mom told me.

I wanted to ask you if a friend of mine could possibly stay over this summer? I assume we'll meet this summer. I think as I watch her typing back.

Oh which friend?

So I've been talking to this guy Michael on twitter and we're both the same age and like the same things and he lives in New York  and we really want to meet so he might fly out to Denver this summer and he can stay in my room in the basement and I can face time him so you can meet him and this would mean so much to me and please mom

I look at her typing back and it seems to take an eternity. " Who you texting?" Ashton says sitting on the bed across from me. " My mom I'm telling her about Michael."  " I see." Ashton says and unlocks his phone and looks at something.

Have you been talking to someone on the internet most of the school year? Without telling me? Calum that's so unsafe.

Not really he's not like an old man or anything

I guess you can face time this boy and I can meet him but don't do this again

I  plug my phone in and am about to think about going to sleep. " You think there is a party going on right now that were missing? Let me text Andrew." I sit up and look over at Ashton who texts his friend. " I don't want to party though." I say. But he's already going through his bag for a plain black t-shirt. "Guess I'm going to a party." Ashton smiles over at me and puts his phone in his pocket as we leave the dorm. The walk seems to not be too long as we arrive at a row of houses. " I'm too young for this." I say. " Don't worry your with me." Ashton says and smiles before walking into the house.  The party is decent but I'm ready to go after an hour. I look around for Ashton but find him by the door and I'm surprised that I'm sober. " Was it what you expected?" I ask. " Eh it's okay but we should get back." I agree and we walk back up to campus. " I saw that All Time Low is coming.. can we go?" I ask. "When is it, before  I move in?" Ashton asks. " Maybe a great thing to do for our last summer together." He says I'm quite at this  as we go back into the hall and up to our dorm. " Night Ashton." I say as I get into bed. " Night Cal."
