" Are you dressed yet were going to be late!" Mali yells down the hall as I fix my hair and put on my suit jacket. Today is my best friends graduation and I'm super excited yet I'm a bit sad cause now it becomes all real. He's leaving me. Granted he will only be up in Boulder but he may go somewhere out of state after this, Heck he may even go back to Sydney leaving me here. I go downstairs and get in the car."Where's mom?" She's at Ashton's getting ready for the party remember?" Right. I forgot the grad party is tonight and that my mom has been helping his mom plan it for the past two months. Graduation is being held at a nearby college that is absolutely beautiful but way to expensive for me to think about applying to. "You have the tickets right?" I ask as we park. "Should be in the front part of my purse if you want to check. I tentatively zip it open and find the two red tickets.
" It's so crowded." I say. " How big is this year's graduating class?"
" Four hundred maybe a little more?" I say. I look around for Ashton's mom in the crowd and spot her and speed walk over. "Calum! Hey glad your here." she says giving me a hug. " Glad to be here." I say smiling. I can't wait till it's me graduating.I'm sitting though way to many names and overly excited parents with blow horns ( no joke I get it they graduated move on geez) "How many more." I whine looking down at the stage. " We're only in the the E's." Mali says and looks down at her phone. " Why is I not the first letter in the alphabet?" I whine. After much waiting I look down and smile as I hear his name read off, " Ashton Fletcher Irwin." I get to my feet and cheer too loudly that the family next to us looks at me annoyed but me and Ashton's mom are too busy cheering to care before they move to the next person. I watch him go down the stairs and looks up at me and smiles before dabbing making me laugh and his mom look unamused. Back to sitting through names of people I don't know. Finally they have everyone through their hats in the air and we all cheer for the class of 2013. We leave out seats as I wait for the graduates to come out. I see Ash first and bolt over. " Congrats on graduating!" I say. "Thanks Calum." He says giving me a hug. He hugs his mom next and my sister as we go outside and take pictures. " You mind if I ride with Ashton back to the house?" I ask Mali. " No problem I'll meet you there." "We may stop for food I'm starving." Ashton says taking off his cap and un buttoning his robe. "We have food at the house." His mom says he frowns at this before we get in his mom's car. We get to his house where he goes to change into something less hot while I go downstairs and help set everything up. Once everyone arrives I find a place outside to sit. I'm so deep in thought I don't notice someone sit down next to me.
"Thinking about me leaving you next year?" Ash asks. " Wha yeah a bit but we have all summer and you will love Boulder I'm glad you got in."
" Gosh me too." He says.
" I can't see you anywhere else."
" Well, maybe University of Colorado Denver." He says shrugging.
" You want cake?"
" Sure." I follow him to the cake table and get a slice as we talk before a few of his friends arrive leaving me alone again so I text Michael.Hey
Hey how are you?
Good I'm at Ashton's graduation party
How's that?
Good I'm sitting out a table outside eating cake.
Sounds fun, guess what?
Hmm?
I talked to my mom about flying out to Denver this summer.
What did she say?
Well she said yes.. I mean I've met your mom over face time but still. She says she knows how much you mean to me ( since I never shut up about you) and she got me a plane ticket.
