The next morning Sienna woke up before Aspyn did, so she slowly creeped out of her room and tiptoed down the hall to the kitchen. Once she was far enough away she started walking normally, her stomach began growling so loud she was worried it would wake someone up. After shushing her stomach, she continued to walk a little until she realised she had no clue where the kitchen was.

“What can I do for you miss?”

Sienna gasped as the kitchen worker appeared at her side. He had kind, brown eyes and ruffled black hair that gave the appearance he had just woken up. He looked no more than thirty and had a large smile smeared across his face. Once she was over her shock Sienna asked, “Oh, are you making breakfast by chance?”

The man laughed, “of course, what do you want? Follow me.” She obeyed and followed him into the spacious kitchen. People ran around, getting different things in order for when everyone woke up. Sienna couldn’t decide on what sounded best so the man, who introduced himself as Harrison, the head chef, decided he would make her pancakes and bacon. Soon enough he presented her with a stack of four or five chocolate chip pancakes covered in syrup and butter on each one. A few strips of bacon were on the side.

He sat across from her and talked while she ate. “You must be the new girl, Sienna, that Archer was in here talking about last night. He was just blabbering away about you and the garden and sunset.”

A deep flush went through her face, but she couldn’t reply because she was busy eating the pancakes.

“You know, Sienna, he’s gonna need a wife soon, because his parents are getting old and going to have to retire soon, and he’s going to need someone to rule with. It’s not customary for the son and daughter to rule at the same time. Honestly, unless Archer unexpectedly dies, Aspyn probably won’t rule Bianna.”

She swallowed the pancakes, “he’s not going to ask me to marry him, if that’s what you’re implying. He barely knows me, there’s plenty of other girls who belong to Bianna. Plus I’m not fit to be a princess, or a queen for that matter.”

“Ah, honey, everyone is fit to be a queen, especially you. I’ve never seen a girl come through here like you. Your eyes are happy and welcoming, and your laugh is melodious. You’re someone people would listen to, someone they would adore. Plus, Archer talks about you like you’re a goddess. You’d be fit to be Bianna’s queen.”

Sienna’s heart warmed with every word Harrison said, but she still wasn’t sure he was right. “I don’t even know if he likes me, Harrison. Plus, I’d be surprised if he already liked me. We’ve only talked for like an hour.”

“Sometimes it only takes an hour to know who you want to spend forever with, darling. It’s how I met my wife.” Sienna wasn’t sure how to reply to that because she knew that from experience, but when she finally thought of something, Harrison stood up, “Sorry I can’t talk much more, I’ve got to get back to cooking. We have a whole staff to feed in about an hour.”

Although she was disappointed and enjoyed Harrison’s company a great deal, she understood and happily said, “that’s fine, bye Harrison.”

“Bye, Sienna.”

*************************************

A few months had passed and every morning, the early breakfasts with Harrison continued and she would tell him more about life in Indiana and he would tell her about the past of Bianna. He was quickly becoming her favorite person that she had met in Bianna, even though Archer had taken her into town on her third day there and she had the pleasure of meeting almost everyone.

After about a week, Aspyn and Archer got Sienna set up in a guest room that had become her permanent room. She quickly became Aspyn’s best friend and Aspyn couldn’t bear the thought of having her live away from the castle, so she stayed there. No protest came from Archer’s end of the argument, he wanted Sienna there as much as Aspyn.
