“Absolutely not.”

I frown, “why not, Rach?”

“I will not go on a blind date with someone you barely know’s cousin!” she said putting her foot down. Literally, might I add. Her foot hit the ground so loudly I was glad it was only her and I home. I frowned at her stubbornness, it wasn’t like we were complete strangers. I spent the whole rest of the day with David last night and actually got to know him, Colin and Alice.

Alice was a lot like me. So much so, it was slightly creepy. Her favourite music, much like mine, was Folk Rock and Indie music. She runs, too, and she agrees with me that it’s totally a sport. (I, obviously called Alex when I got home and told him that others agreed with me that it’s a sport.) She loved animated movies the best and concurred that Safe Haven was one of the only good and acceptable chick flicks in the world.

She claims she’s read all the books, much like Rachel does, and I told her I didn’t have to claim it because it was true. She also told me that she’d never been kissed and I confessed that the closest I’d gotten was a few nights ago when David kissed my cheek.

Needless to say, we were basically the same person and it totally freaked me out. Oddly enough, Colin is a lot like Alex. He’s like a big jock but he reads, unlike Alex. He used to run with Alice to keep in shape while she was just running for fun.

They were born and raised in Georgia, but both moved here around last year to be closer to the family. It was interesting to hear how similar families could be but still be total strangers. Colin and I both agreed that when Alex came down to come visit, they would totally have to meet and hang out. You know, whatever guys do when they get together.

Right now I’m attempting to convince Rachel to go on this date, but she’s not really going for it. Finally I pull my phone out and show her a picture of him. “Colin,” I say, “He’s exactly your type. He has sandy brown hair, and bright blue eyes. C’mon!”

She rolls her eyes, “If I wanted to date someone like your brother, I would be dating Alex.” Something about the way she said it threw me off. Like there was something going on that I was missing, I instantly blew it off, figuring I was going crazy.

“Yeah,” I say, stopping and thinking about it, “I don’t really know who I’d suggest to date Alex. Definitely not you, but you know whatever.”

“I don’t want or need a boyfriend,” She says, sticking her nose in the air, “I’m fine.”

I sigh and roll my eyes, “Puhh-leasee. We need something to get you out of bookwork all the time.”

She stares at me in disbelief, “are you hearing yourself? This is my Sienna Caitlyn Powers I’m talking to, right? The one who’s been studying body language for over a year? Who has hundreds of flashcards of what different postures and movements mean? The one who has tons of books stacked on her desk about it? I think you need to get out of your bookwork.”

“Fine,” I snap, “it’ll be double date, okay?”

“Fine.”

A few days later, the doorbell rings and I sigh, setting down my book carefully and stand up to get it. It’s noon on a Saturday morning, who was ringing our doorbell? Is it someone that I really want to see me like this? Eh, oh well. I opened the door and I see a familiar chestnut colored hair and a friendly smile.

“ALEX!” I screech loudly, running up to him. He has to drop his bags quickly to catch me but I don’t even care.

“Poppet!” He shouts back, hugging me tightly.
