After Voight brought up Jay's replacement, Erin decided to end her shift. As she arrived at home, all the treas she held back during the day, started to storm down her cheek.
Her apartment was full filled with flowers, which people sended her after Jay's funeral. She sighed and sat down on the couch, she turned on the TV, she had stopped crying as someone rang the doorbell.
With a raised eyebrow she walked towards the front door, she hadn't except anyone to come by. She slowly opened the door and her hazelnut orbs, met some familiar eyes.
"Mouse... What are you doing here??"
She stuttered, he was the only one who didn't knew that Jay was dead. Voight had tried to called him a few times, but Mouse never answered his phone.
"Erin. It's good to see you! Can I come inside?"
He asked her with a wide smile spreading upon his brims, he didn't understand why she stuttered. All in all, Erin seemed different, but he didn't know why
"Of course"
Erin managed to say, and made space for him to enter the apartment. As soon as he stepped inside, Erin closed the door behind herself.
"You got a lot of flowers, is Jay trying to make something up?! Or have I missed your birthday?"
He asked her with a smile, until she started to cry. His features frown and he pulled her into a warm embrace
"Hey.. That was just a joke!!"
He tried to calm the crying woman, he never before saw Erin like that. She wasn't a person, who showed her emotional side often.
"Mouse.."
Erin pulled back to face her dead husbands best friend, before she continued
"Jay is dead.. He dead 3 weeks ago.. We tried to call you, but we couldn't reach you"
She wisphered and wiped the treas from her cheeks, she could see how Mouse features frown and his eyes widen. He made a joke about all this flowers, without thinking for a minute. His best friend died, he couldn't believe it...
"How??"
A single word was all that escaped Mouse lips after 30 minutes of completely silences, Erin wasn't sure how to start
"We had this case.. He had multiple bullets in his chest, the could repair his lungs, but not his heart."
To relate the story hurts less than Erin except, but the way Mouse looked broke the pieces of her heart apart again.
Mouse PROV
I must be dreaming! Did Erin honestly just say, that my best friend is dead?! The guy I know since 10 years??! I was so shocked for the next 30 minutes that I wasn't able to move myself, even if I wanted to hug her again. I couldn't even imagine what she goes through right now, I really shouldn't cry infront of her, but I can't stop myself. This all seemed so surreal, Jay was dead.. He shooked his head and nonstop, slowly but obviously unbelievable. I couldn't even say goodbye, he thought.
Erin PROV
Silence covered the room and she could hear her own breath, it was extremely uncomfortable right now. She felt a little dizzy, so she sat down on the couch, placing her hand on her small stomach. She knew Mouse, but not as good as Jay. Did he know if he needs a hug, space or maybe just this silence and someone who is there with him?? She didn't knew it, so she sat there and keeped watching him.
4 hours had passed and Mouse falled asleep on Erins couch after, they talked about Jay and his death. She sighed and pulled a blanket over him, before she made her way to the bedroom.
"Goodnight Jay.."
She wisphered and laid down on their bed, in her hands a shirt of him. It was nearly unable for her to fall asleep, but the odor of his shirt made it easier. Easier to pretend he was still alive, to pretend he was beside her. Even if it was just a fantasy, it was her fantasy and all she need right now.
