You smile, looking at the gun in your hand. You had finally convinced Conrad to hand you a gun. It's not what you expected. Could have gone for something a little bigger, but what can you do sometimes?

Your stomach drops, hearing a loud thump. The flames get brighter and you begin to feel the heat. You are nearly there. You look to Hank running next to you and point to him to go in a different direction. He nods, leaving you and Conrad to run alone.

Conrad jumps out of the bushes first. "Stop Packard!" Conrad shouts, aiming his gun at Packard. Packard smirks as the remaining soldiers arm their weapons at Conrad. You fly out of the bushes, aiming your gun at Packard as well. A solider now turns his gun to you.

You gasp for breath. Your heart pounding in your chest when you look over your shoulder. Your eyes widen at Kong on the ground, knocked out. You can still hear him breath. But his fur is wet and burnt. He was on fire.

Hank pops out of the bushes, holding his sword firmly against Reles' neck. "I warned you guys the first time" he tells them. Reg turns his gun to Hank.

"Don't blow the detonator" Conrad demands. Tightening his hold on the rifle. Packard chuckles, flickering on the detonator. The detonator makes a beep and a red light flashes on.

"That thing.. Isn't human.. It killed my men.." Packard says with a evil glare. His hand firmly holding onto the detonator. Conrad shakes his head to him.

"Kong was only protecting his land.." He informs him. "He isn't the enemy" Conrad raises his voice slightly, irritated. Packard breathes in deeply, ready to blow.

"We are soldiers!" Packard shouts. "We do the dirty work to keep the ones we love safe! They shouldn't even know a thing like this exists!" Packard yells, resisting to press the button.

"Packard!" You shout, aiming the gun directly at his forehead. "What you are doing is insane!" You exclaim. "This isn't what a soldier does" you grit your teeth. Packard stares at you for a moment.

"Bitch please!" He booms. You're thrown back slightly. You honestly didn't see that one coming. You though you had gotten your wording right. He stares at your gun. "Have you ever even fired a gun before?" He asks with a smirk.

You chuckle to yourself. "I guess we'll see" you shrug to him. He stares at you with a stern expression before changing his sight back to Conrad.

"Put down the detonator Packard.. This is insane. Realise what you are doing" Conrad says, looking around. Reg stares at Conrad, thinking twice about his words. He breathes in, looking to his hands placed on the trigger.

He blinks before swiftly turning his aim right at Packard. "Put down the detonator sir!" He commands, his hold wobbling a little bit but it's still firm. Packard's eyes widen at the betrayal before his eyes.

He grabs ahold of his gun, pulling it out quickly. "Colonel!" Conrad roars, making Packard stop. "Please!" Conrad begs. All soldiers begin to lower their weapons, leaving Packard to defend for himself. All eyes flick to the water as a loud noise appears from the water. Water splashing up from the river. You stumble back, looking at it with wide eyes.

It happens again. Your eyebrows furrow, you have no idea what's happening. You tighten your hold on your gun, but you're afraid this won't help you at all. You gasp as a giant skullcrawler flies out of the water. It lets out a loud screech.

"That's the big one!" Hank informs you. Conrad looks to everyone as the skullcrawler slowly makes its way over to you's.

"Everyone! Fall back!" Conrad commands. Everyone does so instantly besides you and Packard. Conrad looks to you with wide eyes. "L/N, go!" He commands. You hesitate, and watching the skullcrawler get closer and closer. "Go!" He shouts, frightening you. You run.

"Colonel.." Packard trails with wide eyes. He looks to the skullcrawler getting closer. Packard only watches the crawler get closer with a stern expression. "Sir! Please!" Conrad says, but he knows that Packard won't move. Conrad lowers his head and runs.

You wait by a tree. Your eyes squinting as you watch Kong roar as he gets up. The leaves are blocking full vision. The crawler screeches before jumping on top of Kong, attacking him.

"Kong's down, let's go!" Conrad shouts, lifting you up. He runs with you in his arm before you snap out of it and are able to run for yourself. You's quickly catch up to the rest of the group. Nobody stops, in fact they all pick up speed.

You hiss, at your heart pounding against your chest. But you refuse to stop running. Your arms smack away in coming branches. You're surprised that Hank is the fastest runner, he had never been one to run.

The morning sun begins to rise as your run free of the trees. You's look around, looking for the boat but it's no where in sight. You curse to yourself, where could they be? Conrad mumbles to himself, thinking of the best way to gain there attention.

"Alright" Conrad says, knowing the plan. "I need someone to go up that mountain there" he says, pointing his finger to a mountain. "And shoot a flare to get their attention" Conrad explains, you immediately step forward.

"I'll go" you say, breathless. Conrad's eyes widen and he shakes his head. "Why not?" You question, you honestly don't have the time for arguments Conrad!

"It's too dangerous for you" he says firmly. Hank rolls his eyes, grabbing a flare gun from Reg's bag. He whistles, gaining your attention and chucks it to you. Conrad gives Hank a glare.

"What?" Hank questions. "Does it look like one of else will be able to get up there fast enough?" Hank snorts. Conrad looks at all the soldiers and sighs. He's correct. You'd do better then them all.

"L/N, we'll buy you time" he says, placing his hand firmly on your shoulder. You nod to him and run off to the mountain.
