...DAMON'S POV...

I arrived and meet the rest of the council for a reunion.

"The coroner's office has officially ruled Vicki Donovan's death a drug overdose. Her family has been notified, the truth will stay in this room and we can put this behind us."Elizabeth announced she was also know as Sheriff Forbes and Caroline's mother.

"Thank you Sheriff. And on to a more pressing issue, John Gilbert has asked to say a few words."Mayor Lockwood said and I seemed surprised I was.

"Welcome back John, it's good to see you."Mayor Lockwood said.

"Hello everyone, it's wonderful to see you, I wish it were under better circumstances. As a founding family member I find it's my duty to report some very distressing news."John said and

"He's a Gilbert?"I asked directly to Elizabeth.

"Elena's uncle His name is John but I call him Jackass."Elizabeth joked.

"A hospital blood bank in the neighboring county of Amherst has reported several break ins over the past two weeks. 7 hunters, 4 campers and 2 states employees have been reported missing as well. All of this within a 75 mile radius of Mystic Falls."John said he would have continued I'm sure but Mayor Lockwood interrupted him.

"Okay okay, no need to get alarmed right at this moment."Mayor Lockwood said.

"Meaning he doesn't want to cancel the Founders' Day kickoff party."Elizabeth whispered to me.

"You think all of your problems are over but I'm here to tell you, nothing's been solved."John said and it was that comment that made me uncomfortable, John seem to know to much.

...ELENA'S POV...

Me and Katherine were standing in Alaric's classroom.

"I made a copy of a paper Jeremy wrote for me. I think you both should take a look at it."Alaric said and He gave the paper to Me. Me and Katherine read the title: fact or fiction: The truth about vampires in Mystic Falls.

"Jeremy wrote this?"I asked.

"He's very clear that he didn't think it was real."Alaric said.

"I really hope you're right because I've done so much to protect him from all of this."I said.

"Anna did mention she was hanging out with Jeremy but I know her and her mother, first of all her mother would never allow exposure."Katherine said and I gave Alaric the paper back.

"So, how do you two deal with it?"Alaric asked.

"What do you mean?"I asked.

"With all the lies and the secrets. You have to lie to everyone who's important to you."Alaric said.

"It's not safe for them to know the truth. So, yes I keep it from them, but it's only because I love them."I said and there was a long pause.

"I think Stefan is a good guy. But at the end of the day he's still a vampire."Alaric said.

"I know it's hard to understand but Stefan is different. He would never do anything to hurt me."I said.

"I'm surprised you trust me."Katherine said.

"Well when I meet you, you didn't exactly scream vampire, your brother did, and I had to understand that his actions don't reflect the type of person you would be even if you were a vampire."Alaric said.

"Thanks, I just hope your right."Katherine said.

...JEREMY'S POV...

Me and John were eating in the kitchen. Jenna was there too.

"I've no interest in the Founder's Day kickoff party."I said.

"Sure you do its tradition."John said.

"It will be our role to break the tradition."Jenna said.

"The Gilberts have been a part of this town for a hundred and fifty years. We're one of the founding families and with that distinction comes certain obligations including going to the party. One day, when you can appreciate the significance, I'll tell you all about your heritage."John said.

"Hmm, the Gilbert family legacy. I forgot how sacred it was. I'm not a Gilbert so I was never cool enough to hear it."Jenna said.

"Why does she hate you?"I asked.

"We used to sleep together."John said and Jenna threw a bag at him I put my hands in the air to protect me.

"Whoa."I laughed.

"I'm standing right here."Jenna said.
