Finally, after 40 anxious filled seconds, the sound of a baby's high-pitched cry filled the room. Doctors and nurses let out a sigh of relief and Lydia loosened her grip on Stiles' arm.

"Oh my gosh," She breathed out, a teary-eyed smile forming across her lips.

"Congratulations! It's a girl." The Doctor announced, placing Lydia's baby girl in an incubator.

"A girl..." Lydia sighed in delight. She'd dreamt of having a little girl since she was just a toddler.

Stiles looked down at Lydia, who was still wrapped around his arm, smiling brightly. He was so proud of how far she'd come. Not long ago, she was the girl who thought the abuse she was receiving was at her fault. Now, she's a strong, independent single mother.
A nurse pushed the incubator over to Lydia's bedside. The baby was so tiny, she could have held her in the palm of her hand. Although she was grateful to have her baby in the world, she was still incredibly worried about what could come their way.

"She weighs 2 pounds, 1 ounce," the nurse informed her. "You can put your index finger on her if you want."

Lydia nodded, slipping her index finger through the hole in the plastic case. The tip of her finger brushed along her baby's hand as she whispered "Hi sweetheart. We made it. It's just you and me, but we're gonna be okay."

Stiles peeked over her shoulder, catching a glimpse of the infant, so small and fragile looking. After a couple of hours bonding with the baby, Lydia was told that she had to be brought to the NICU.

"We have to run tests and monitor her of course, but at this point, she seems pretty lucky. She's quite a miracle. We'll be back to check on you soon." A male nurse assured before rolling her away.

"Hear that? She's a miracle." Stiles repeated, running his hand through her disheveled locks.

"She's perfect." She mumbled sleepily, allowing her eyelids to flutter shut momentarily.

"Get some rest, you must be exhausted. I'll call everyone. Your mom, Scott, Allison. Anyone else you want." He offered.

"Thank you, Stiles." She nodded before drifting into a deep sleep.

Lydia had managed to sleep through the night with Stiles by her side. He simply refused to leave. Although he told Lydia he didn't have much to do anyway, he really did. He was missing a lot of work, probably on the verge of being fired. Not that it mattered, Lydia and her baby were his highest priority at the moment.
Stiles had woken up while she was still sleeping soundly, so he quickly visited Scott, Allison, and Asher, and then he purchased two coffees. One basic coffee with cream and sugar for him, and a caramel mocha for Lydia. Her favourite, but she saved the sugary, calorie-filled drink for special occasions. He was sure this occasion met the requirements.
When he returned to the room, he found Lydia taking a sip of day-old water from a plastic cup on her side table.

"I got you a caramel mocha to say good morning," Stiles smiled, holding up the to-go cup. "You deserve it."

Her eyes lit up at the sight of the drink. "Yes! Thank you!" She exclaimed like a child.

He passed her the drink carefully as steam made its way out of the small hole in the lid, into the air. She took a sip happily before placing it on the table next to the water. Stiles took a seat in the same chair he'd been sitting in for too many hours, waiting patiently for the caffeine to kick in.

"A nurse told me they could take me down to the NICU today to see her. Wanna come?" She asked joyfully.

"Of course I do."

She gave him a genuine smile. The kind where her lips pressed together, causing her cheeks to puff up. He loved when she smiled like that.

"How are Allison and Asher?" She asked.

"Good. I went to go see them this morning. They'll be going home soon."

Although Lydia was happy for her best friends, she couldn't help but envy them. They were married, in love, and had a strong, healthy baby. Her smile faded a bit, stress creeping over her.

"You okay?" He worried.

"Yeah," she shrugged. "Did you talk to my mom?"

"Yep. She'll be here in a couple hours, she booked a flight last night."

Really, she couldn't deny how grateful she was to have Stiles around. He took such a large weight off her shoulders. "Thanks, Sti."

Later on, the two of them headed to the NICU along with a nurse. Lydia in a wheelchair, Stiles trailing close behind. She and Stiles were in awe as they stopped by her incubator. They'd almost forgotten how tiny she was. She was attached to so many machines, it was overwhelming for Lydia. Stiles crouched down so she didn't feel so alone, and he grabbed her hand.

"She's really beautiful, Lydia," he grinned. "Just like her mom."

She blushed, trying her best to hide her rosy cheeks behind the palm of her hand, which was now deliberately placed over her evidently pink skin.

"Have you decided on a name yet?" Stiles asked curiously.

"Well, I was talking to Allison last night and we came up with a middle name," she announced. "Marvella. It's French for miracle, which seems fitting."

"That's great! She could be a superhero," he exclaimed. She furrowed her brows, giving him a confused look. "You know, like the Marvel comics? Okay, I'll shut up now."

She laughed at his dorky comment.

"Stiles, your inner nerd is shining through." She smirked.

"It's cute, though, right?"

"Whatever helps you sleep at night." She replied sarcastically. He was right, it was cute.

"First name?" He asked, getting the conversation back on topic.

"Well, I was thinking either Brianna or Adora. Brianna means strong, Adora means adored." She thought aloud. "What do you think?"

"W-what? Lydia, I can't make a decision like that. It's all up to you." He stammered.

"Stiles, I want you to help me choose. Please." She said, only now staring back into his big, caramel eyes.

He thought the names over for a few moments. "Brianna Marvella Martin. Adora Marvella Martin." He said out loud, trying to get a sense of how they'd sound rolling off the tongue.

"Martin-Stilinski." She corrected him in her head. "Well, hopefully someday."

"Adora's a really good name, I actually really like it, but I think Brianna goes better with Marvella and Martin." He said. "But of course, the choice is all your's. They're both great!"

"Brianna it is." She confirmed, glancing over at her newly named child. "Brianna Marvella Martin. I love it."

He placed a quick kiss upon her temple. It could be considered a friendly gesture, but he secretly meant it in more of a romantic way.

She caught on, hoping her assumption was correct.

Author's note:

So, Brianna Marvella Martin. What do you guys think?
I wanted to give her a meaningful name because I think that she symbolizes a new chapter in Lydia's life, a really important one. That's why I put so much thought and meaning into her name :)
