They pulled into the driveway of Scott and Allison's cozy, contemporary home. Stiles pulled the keys out of the ignition as Lydia rested the side of her head on the frosty window, longing to see her daughter already. She sighed as she sat up sleepily before propping the door open.

"We'll go see her in a bit. I promise." Stiles reassured her.

She nodded, pushing herself up and using the car for support. He rushed to her side, taking her hand into his. The two of them made their way to the front porch where they were greeted by their sleepless-looking best friends and Asher.

"Hey." They smiled slightly, Scott rubbing his eyes, Allison letting out a yawn.

"How about I grab Lydia's stuff and then make some coffee," Stiles suggested, releasing the strawberry blonde's hand. "You all look like you could use it."

"That'd be great," Allison replied, rocking her newborn son in her arms.

Scott, Lydia, and Allison sauntered into the house, and Stiles made his way back to the car. He collected Lydia's belongings and made his way through the front door with full arms. The bags and other random items of importance were placed in the spare room, and Stiles headed back downstairs to make coffee, as promised. He found his friends sitting around the living room catching up. Stiles began brewing their hot drinks, and he almost felt left out. All of the sudden, the most important people in his life were parents, and at the rate he was going, he was nowhere near those days. He knew he'd be involved in Asher and Brianna's upbringings without the commitment, but he truly wanted to settle down. He didn't just want to be the cool uncle, he wanted to be the best father, even if it meant long nights and overcoming daily temper tantrums. He wanted to pick his children up from school and spend hours at the park, he wanted family days at the zoo, he wanted to teach his kids to be the best they could be, he wanted all of it. So although he earned two kids in his life this week without the struggles of parenthood, he craved more.

The coffee maker beeped, indicating it's finish, breaking Stiles' train of thought. He poured the liquid into four mugs, added everyone's desired amount of cream and sugar, and passed the drinks to his friends. The four of them relaxed on the comfortable sofa, making discussion for a long while. Lydia picked up as much advice from Scott and Allison as she could, as did Stiles.

Later, after visiting Brianna in the hospital and stopping to pick up some Chinese take-out for dinner, Stiles and Lydia sat at opposite sides of her bed. Lydia relaxed under the cotton sheets with her head pressed against the headboard, and Stiles was spread across the bottom lying above the covers on his stomach. The late night news was on the TV in the background but was quiet to allow for conversation between them.

After many moments of silence, Lydia spoke up. "Do you think she's gonna make it?" She asked with a trembling voice. "Honestly."

Her words sent shivers down his spine. He wasn't sure how to answer. Lydia deserved more than a sugar-coated response, but he was no doctor. "You heard what they said. She's a miracle."

"For now," She muttered, a single tear rolling down her cheek. "What happens days or weeks from now? You know how tiny she is. She looks like she could break at the sound of her own voice."

"I don't know what's gonna happen. No matter what, I'll be here," He reminded her. It tore him apart to see her so terrified, so helpless. "I know it's impossible, but you have to stay positive or it'll screw you up until you know she's okay."

She nodded, wiping her face with the sleeve of her sweatshirt and inhaling deeply. For a goofy single person with no kids, Stiles sure gave good advice. He'd always been a good listener, even in high school. If Lydia was having a bad day, no matter how silly it seemed, he was there to hear her opinion and give her a shoulder to cry on. After all, that's what he did for the people he loved.

"Well, it's getting late," He sighed. "I'll let you get some rest. I'm right downstairs if you need me. Goodnight, Lyds." He stood and began to make his way towards the door.

She remained silent as she watched him take every step. "Stiles," She spoke before thinking.

He whipped his head around to face her, hand hovering above the doorknob.

Suddenly, without her control, the words she'd been holding back for so long flowed out. "I know what the problem was," She spoke, thoughts clouded by the love in her heart. He furrowed his brows, moving towards her hesitantly.

"With what?" He asked. He wasn't sure what she meant.

"With us. Well, with me," She whispered, lips quivering as tears blurred her vision. "He taught me to hate myself and I could not fully fall in love with someone if I didn't love myself first. No matter how badly I wanted to." She didn't need to say a name, Stiles knew exactly who she was talking about.

He placed his loving hand in her's, cheeks flushing in anger and sadness as he thought of the pain that man put her through.

"I love myself now, though," She stated, managing to pull the corners of her lips to form a slight smile. "You taught me to love myself."

His heart overfilled with joy in that moment. How grateful he was to love such a strong woman.

"You deserve all the love in the world." He blushed, staring into her emerald eyes.

Her lips parted, looking for the words to say. She couldn't find any powerful enough to describe the love she had for him. She wasn't sure they existed. As they say, actions speak louder than words. She sat up, inching closer to his face, admiring every detail.

Little did she know, he was doing the same.

She placed a gentle kiss upon his soft lips. It was simple and graceful, yet the meaning behind it was so much more.

"It sounds cheesy, but you're my whole world." He whispered, pressing his forehead against her's.

"Let's build a life together," She proposed. "I want you. I want us."

He nodded happily.

And they sealed the deal with a kiss.
