23: A Kiss Before You Go (Pt 1)

I barely spoke to my parents all that night and at one point I accidentally-on-purpose ignored my mum completely by turning my music up so loud. I didn't want to talk to her, or anyone really, not unless it was Gee. Since I couldn't talk to him I had decided that the best course of action was just to ignore everyone else and think about Gerard. Definitely not daydream about him, definitely not picturing him doing anything, either to me or himself. I knew that nothing productive would occur as a result of me imagining things on my bed but it didn't matter. I didn't want to do anything productive.

Something in the back of my mind seemed to notice that it was very dark and very quiet in my room all of a sudden. Sitting up slowly I realised that my music had stopped playing, God knows how long before, and that the sun had completely set. My phone screen, a glaring harsh light compared to the weak light from the streetlights outside announced that it was 1:27am. That meant that I had been thinking about Gerard for much longer than I thought. Hours longer in fact. As I reluctantly began to stand up to get changed for bed it occurred to me that while I wasn't tired, everyone else in my house was fast asleep.

I grabbed my phone again and sent a text to Gee without even considering what I was doing.

you awake? xoxofrnk

My phone had hardly gone off before the screen lit up again, showing an unread message.

Yes. Why are you? G

well i couldnt sleep and i knew that everyone else was asleep so i thought this would be a good time for  us to talk? xoxofrnk

Unlike my initial message, this one took a number of drafts and more revisions than was probably necessary. Gee had obviously been waiting for it though, because his reply once again came through within seconds.

Okay - meet me at my door in ten minutes. I'll come to the door so don't knock. G

A second text came through before I had finished reading the first.

Oh, and you'll have to excuse my...outfit ;) G

The emoji at the end of the text reminded me of why I was up this late in the first place, making me blush.

I didn't really have anything to do for the eight minutes I had before I needed to leave so I wandered, slightly aimlessly, through my room. For some reason, I remembered the eyeliner that Gerard had put on me when he visited, and the way he reacted to me wearing it. Curious to see if I could replicate the make-up (and therefore its affects) myself, I headed to the bathroom where my mum kept her make-up. A quick rummage through her stuff located the thin black pencil for me, which I awkwardly held in my hand as I stepped closer to the mirror, still with absolutely no clue as to what I was doing. My first attempt was understandably terrible but I found to my dismay that it didn't come off properly when I rubbed it. I ended up with strange, smudged circles under my eyes but a glance at the clock told me that I didn't have time to fix it.

Moving as quietly as possible I headed down the stairs and out the front door, turning the handle carefully to make sure it didn't wake anyone. It was colder than I had thought and I shivered a little inside my hoodie as I crossed the street to Gee's house.

His door opened just before I got there and he smiled at me as he moved to the side to let me in, an ink-stained finger on his lips as we crept through the house in almost complete darkness - the only light coming from Gee's phone torch. As he opened his bedroom door I squinted in the sudden light, then started to laugh as I realised what Gee was wearing. Unlike me, he had clearly been in bed that night as he was wearing a large skeleton onesie. The covers of his bed were also pushed back hastily, as if he hadn't quite had time to finish making it. He turned to face me, frowning a little at my laughter, although his eyes widened and he gave a small smirk as he saw my smudged, mismatched attempt at eyeliner.

"Wow, Frankie, you look good like that."

AN:

Yay - an update less than a week after my last one! And I have another update planned for either tomorrow or Friday, depending on how much time I have. As further incentive for votes/comments the first person to do either of those things can have the next chapter dedicated to them. As always, thanks for reading this <3

PS - I've just started listening to Creeper and I love them, so if anyone has any band/musician recommendations, feel free to comment those :)
