Petunia is trying to deal with two screaming toddlers and the doorbell rings. She opens it to find Remus lupin.
Harry instantly runs to him yelling "uncle moony!"
Then his face sad, he says "uncle moony, where mama? Where dada? Where pa'fu (padfoot.)? Why haven't they come back?"
And moony had no idea of what to do. He couldn't tell him that they were dead and Sirius was in Azkaban. So he left. He didn't see Harry again, until his third year at Hogwarts. He died a little inside every time he heard "professor lupin" come out of Harry's mouth. Because if he had stayed, it could've been uncle moony
